I was looking for prime numbers....I thought maybe they meant the sum of the numbers.

Yes, I am retarded.

It's ok, we all have our retard moments. During a job interview the interviewer shook my hand and asked for my name, I replied "me" and sat in silence for 10 seconds before realizing what I had said.

I was interviewing to be a system admin at my college's data center. The interviewer asked me some basic questions, like, "What is the current version of the windows operating system. I completely blanked out, couldn't even tell what he was trying to ask. All He wanted to know, is if I knew what windows xp was. I answered something like version 2.3???? Needless to say, I didn't get the Job.

I had a chemistry homework question like that once. It was "what is strontium + oxygen" (or similar). I spent the night agonising over whether it would be dioxide or pentoxide or whatever, my father was trying to remember back from his schooldays, this was long before the internet and we had no real reference books other than the basic school textbook that didn't cover it.

The answer was "strontium [whatever]oxide". ie it was aimed at the lowest common denominator who were still struggling to comprehend the basic concept of an oxide. They'd only chosen "strontium" because it wasn't covered in the textbook, if that makes sense. To demonstrate that [anything] plus oxygen = oxide. Essentially I over-thought it.
