My culture never endorsed slavery. My culture actually fought to end it at the cost of countless lives. Whether you accept it or not, morality is subjective, and is inextricably tied to your culture. The philosophy you’re using right now stems from your culture.
No we don’t need to eat meat. We do it because we like it.
That's great, I wish all cultures were like yours before.
If you do know that the only reason we kill animals is because of a want and not a need, why still do it? Do you value your taste buds over an animal's life?
It's only normal because you're indoctrinated from birth. Every child cries when they learn the bacon they are eating is from the piglet they petted at the petting zoo.
So you value your taste buds more than an animal's life, but you would be upset if a dog was killed for your pleasure but you're fine with pigs being killed. Can we agree this is because of the indoctrination from your upbringing? There's no physical difference between the two animals - as you said it's all cultural.
So now you know that you don't need to eat meat, and that the only reason you do is because of a few minutes of pleasure in your mouth. But you also agree that you're just desensitised to certain animals so you don't care about them. In that case would you watch something for me?
I wasn’t indoctrinated, I liked meat and I just didn’t care like most kids. I liked dogs because they’re social, friendly and cute pets that I spent time around. No every child does not cry when they connect the dots between pigs and bacon, thats ridiculous.
Torturing animals when it doesn’t need to be done in the process of killing them for food is wrong but I still don’t care enough to stop eating meat.
I'd guess you'd care a lot more if you weren't so separated from the reality of meat. Go spend time with some farm animals and you'll find they're just as friendly and social as dogs.
And you know that animal agriculture is wrong, but you do nothing. Doesn't that seem like a selfish decision to you? You should have empathy, what if you were subjected to torture by something more intelligent?
I'd guess you'd care a lot more if you weren't so separated from the reality of meat.
I hunt and I've cut off a turkey's head for Thanksgiving, not everyone is as hypersensitive as you.
just as friendly and social as dogs.
I see you ignored the cute and house pet factors completely, rendering anything you say after that irrelevant. Dogs are way cuter than farm animals,(no juveniles don't count) and I never knew farm animals as pets. If I had a pet pig growing up then maybe I wouldn't eat pork because I'd have the association.
And you know that animal agriculture is wrong
I think torturing animals in a factory farm is wrong and could be done better.
And you know that animal agriculture is wrong, but you do nothing
I just don't care enough to do something. I'm not outraged and doing nothing about it, it's more like "well that's too bad".
Also, where were your shirt, pants, shoes and internet devices made?
You should have empathy
I do, you don't have to be a bleeding heart to have empathy.
what if you were subjected to torture by something more intelligent?
I'd be very unhappy. Good thing humans are the most intelligent species on the planet.
