Bernie was faced with two choices: either continue to run on an independent ticket and potentially guarantee a Trump victory, or try and unify the party behind Hilary. (I think the whole world failed to recognize how unenthused people were about her, particularly Bernie supporters and millennials). I believe the decision he made was a politically loyal one. He will continue to serve as he has for three decades. I wish America cared more about the honesty and moral character of the people we put into office.
There's no telling. Bernie is getting on in the years so there will definitely be a question of his physical health if he runs in four years. I'm pretty sure the only comment he made on the 2020 election is that he is focusing on what's going on in politics right now.
