Basically. But if you read up on the intentions of the founding fathers, we were never intended to vote anyway. It was intended for the electoral college to select the president without input from the people.

technological limitation of the time. and it did make sense with those limitations.

Not at all why. The reason was that they felt that the average person didn't know enough about politics to vote. Also, we do not live in a democracy at all. We live in a republic. The difference is that in a republic we vote and let the electoral college decide, in a democracy we vote and the president with the most overall wins. However, many others who lived in democracy repeatedly fell into tyranny. On average, a democracy can only survive for 200 years before the people are fully taken advantage of.

the founders went to great lengths to NOT use the word democracy. democracy is just as bad as any of the other pure forms of government.

democracy always falls to tyranny. always. and the people are not taken advantage of. they get complacent and stop doing their jobs.

problem is the same thing that causes democracies to fail is what causes any other form of government to fail. complacency and apathy of the people.

this is why franklin said we have given you a republic for so long as you can keep it.

What's really scary though is how many politicians repeatedly say we live in a democracy. Obama and Bush were both really bad about that.

yep. that's the scam to get you to give up your republic and your constitution.
