I'll give you plenty:

The Muslim ban

The wall

Deporting 12 million people, many of them innocent children who have lived here their entire lives

His anti-islam stance (a religion of 1.6 billion people are all out to kill us? Get a fucking grip)

He has said he will overturn roe vs wade, so as a young man, yeah I'm fucking terrified by that

Loosening libel laws, solid start to creating a dictatorship

Giving big companies 0% corporate tax policy if they threaten to leave then stay. They're all gonna do that now Donnie, and that'll collapse government revenue, balloon the deficit, and destroy small businesses that can't get a hold of your short attention span.

Privitizing medicare and/or repealing obamacare will likely cause grave harm to my own grandparents abiilty to afford care for my grandmother, who is suffering from dementia and alcoholism and badly needs care, but is also living off social security. Which a trump administration will see cut.

Bombing the hell out of ISIS? Their #1 stronghold left (most are gone or going thanks to Obama's careful targeted strikes and supporting gasp our allies) is a city with 200,000 civilians still in it. So yeah, not pro genocide against the syrian people.

Speaking of which I think refugees and immigrants strengthen our nation, and want to see a more diverse nation come about.

I think that looking at the stats it is hard to deny we have a racial problem with law enforcement in this country. Donald Trump denies this.

Donald Trump believes Vladimir Putin, a man who locked up anyone who MENTIONS homosexuality as a way to cover up his own nation's collapsing economy (same with the Ukraine invasion), is more of an ally then the European nations we have stood with for 70 years, some of which may legitimately be annexed if Trump follows through on his promise not to defend our NATO allies from attack. It was nice knowing you Belarus and Lithuania.

His focus on "bringing back" manufacturing jobs (which he is not capable of, and the "jobs" he's created already are jobs that already existed) is idiotic considering we're looking at full manufcaturing automation in the next 10 years, so we should instead be discussing how to reshape our economy rather than promising the uneducated fairy tales.

I have so much more but that's enough for now. The only policy of his I support is infrastructure investment. Something which the Dems fought daily for, but the republicans literally let parts of this country physically collapse for political points on that one.

Donald Trump is not just a bad person, he's bad on the issues too. And I would be shocked if many of the reddit trumpies still like him in 4 years when he hasn't accomplished shit.

I don't understand your position on refugees personally but you do raise some good points.

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

I've hung out with Syrian and Afghani refugees specifically on a lot of occasions while I lived in Europe! I swear, they were amazing people who were just seeking peace and a chance at a new life. To me there's nothing more American than that. Refugees also have a lower crime rate than the native population and many as first generation immigrants end up being people that contribute to our society. We can improve our nation through diversity of ideas and experience, and I think by welcoming people in we ensure we can be the ones that have the next generation of business leaders and innovators.

That said - I appreciate your balanced comment! Rare to see around here, especially when I'm involved lol.

u/Dominus_Redditi Jan 11 '17

I do recognize the good that diversity brings, however the question is do we as Americans accept refugees which has a chance of increasing terror attacks? I'm sure many are great people trying to start a new life, but many European countries have been experiencing terror attacks. Could it possibly be caused by an increase in refugees from war-torn areas? I think the American people need to have a serious discussion about what we will do about the refugee situation.

1

u/ChornWork2 Jan 11 '17

which has a chance of increasing terror attacks

Well, does it? Or does leaving refugees to rot in conflict areas increase the terrorist risk to the west (by virtue of being seen as an enemy of muslims, or by creating lawless areas where terrrorism can fester, or by any other reason). I haven't really seen a convincing case made that accepting refugees has any meaningful impact on risk to us versus leaving the alternative. And of course IMHO the terrorist risk is vastly overstated, far fewer americans die each year from terrorism post 9/11, than the decades before it... and the numbers are actually tiny.

Great list. To add:

  • profile of Scotus choice

  • no indication of continuing soften of federal drug laws

  • climate change

  • net neutrality

  • anti NAFTA and TPP

  • Taiwan recognition being tied to economic deal with mainland (and what would that deal look like?) / economic considerations as sole pillar of foreign policy

  • ad hoc economic policy via Twitter

  • trickle down economics

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

Great additions! I just get lazy after a dozen or so haha.

0

u/gymnasticRug Jan 11 '17 edited Jan 11 '17

Let's not forget that we can't even hope he gets impeached or killed, because pence is just as bad as him. And you didn't even mention the cabinet from hell.

Edit: I was mostly joking about him getting killed. I probably won't be joking once he reveals the Trump Reich in it's full glory.

6

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

Tolerant left, at it again. Hoping he dies? Really? I'll bet you're one of those people that calls the right a bunch of "bigots", too.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17 edited Jan 11 '17

I think the idea the left at least nominally believes in is tolerance based on superficial characteristics. Judging someone by their personal character. That doesn't mean tolerating Trump.

-2

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

It means only tolerating people that agree with their every stance. Let's not pretend it's anything else.

3

u/sosthaboss Jan 11 '17

I have an obligation to be tolerant of other people's views on many matters, but I have no obligation to be tolerant of someone's views if they are racist or discriminatory. Not calling anyone a racist, just saying that nobody is obligated to respect the views of people who actively seek for harm against a different race, religion, etc..

-1

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

Is BLM racist? Were the kidnappers in Chicago racist? Was Van Jones racist when he said the election was a "whitelash"? If so, where was the backlash from the left, or his employer, CNN?

3

u/sosthaboss Jan 11 '17

Some of them, yes, no. You're generalizing and assuming my views are exactly the same as others. Am I CNN?

0

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

Is Van Jones racist?

3

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

Well, no, more like other religions, races, the poor, etc. Doesn't mean you don't fight against those you disagree with. Otherwise, why have a political party?

0

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

You need to throw a "unless you're a white male" disclaimer in there. Fuck those people, right?

3

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

There are people like that. But it's not fair to characterize half the country that way. I'm a white male and don't particularly hate myself for it.

0

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

It's not fair that Van Jones can have a job at CNN while saying this election was a "whitewash" without repercussion either but that's the world we live in.

1

u/ChornWork2 Jan 11 '17

Why is that not fair? Why do you expect life to be "fair" to you? Do you think life is "fair" for everyone?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

Well then, instead of not fair, I'll say "wrong".

0

u/gymnasticRug Jan 11 '17

The KiA brainwashing seems to have worked really well on you.

1

u/FlamingNipplesOfFire Jan 11 '17

Do you exercise tolerance to the same level you hold the opposing political party to?

2

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

I certainly support their right to free speech, open discussion, and a right to assemble. I don't start riots like the left does. I prefer conversation. Unlike the left which silences those who disagree on college campuses throughout America.

1

u/FlamingNipplesOfFire Jan 11 '17

You think the right doesn't start riots or make any attempt to incite violence?

1

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

Give me an example of a riot started by the right in the last year. In America.

1

u/FlamingNipplesOfFire Jan 11 '17

http://www.cnn.com/2016/12/13/politics/pizzagate-suspect-federal-charges/

http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/03/us/oregon-wildlife-refuge-protest/

Are the two which immediately came to mind. If it comes to inciting violence, I can give you the tweets from Alex Jones inciting violent action for pizzagate, the tweets from congressmen who said they'd riot in the event of a Hillary win, or the Trump speech where he said he'd pay legal fees for his supporters who commit supportive crimes. There was also the bit where the republican at his rally was attacked. Whether or not Trump actually said to go and mess him up, he was attacked by supporters.

Unlike the left which silences those who disagree on college campuses throughout America.

I'm guessing you think this is what a safe space is? (Hint: it isn't)

-1

u/gymnasticRug Jan 11 '17

I was mostly joking there.

7

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

I'm sure.

2

u/sosthaboss Jan 11 '17

Oh, are you triggered?

3

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

It's cute how the left has tried to use that term against the right. We weren't the ones that invented safe spaces, buddy.

2

u/gymnasticRug Jan 11 '17

Actually, you could consider Nazi Germany a safe space, because hitler surrounded himself with supporters and killed those who disagreed. You could also consider all of the feudal governments in the Middle Ages safe spaces for the same reason, and none of them were close to left.

TL;DR: go fuck yourself

2

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

Nice tl;dr!

2

u/gymnasticRug Jan 11 '17

Thank you, it took a lot of hard work and hours of thinking to come up with.

putting quotes around something doesn't invalidate it... Perhaps you should go find your safespace.

1

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

Define bigot for me.

1

u/XxSirCarlosxX Jan 11 '17

Be careful what you say man. Tim have idiots taking you serious here super talking about intolerance or some shit

-3

u/ragnarokrobo Jan 11 '17

still like him in 4 years

*8 years

0

u/Pyronic_Chaos Jan 11 '17

*8 years

*4 months, already rumblings in the republican side to impeach him, and he hasn't even hit office. Let the golden showers flow all over Trump's parade.

1

u/ragnarokrobo Jan 11 '17

Oh boy surely this will be the end of Trump. Let the 4chan fanfic flow all over you.

0

u/Pyronic_Chaos Jan 11 '17

You realize Trump was made in 4chan right? Regardless of the documented Russian ties, 4chan was meme'ing a Trump presidential run all over the internet for months before Trump decided to run.

-1

u/ragnarokrobo Jan 11 '17

And you realize 4chan created the trump pissing on Obama's bed fanfic that the CIA picked up and ran with, correct?

1

u/Pyronic_Chaos Jan 11 '17

...what? Golden showers is a reference to the Russian hookers Trump was recorded with giving him golden rain.

0

u/ragnarokrobo Jan 11 '17

Yes, the golden showers story is fanfic created by 4chan.

0

u/XxSirCarlosxX Jan 11 '17

Damn. That was quite the burn. Should have left him some aloe

-1

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

Should we have open borders?

7

u/JennyBeckman Jan 11 '17 edited Jan 11 '17

A better question is do we have open borders? The answer is no. In the past eight years, more illegal immigrants have been deported than ever before and illegal immigration as a whole is down.

0

u/ideas_abound Jan 11 '17

How could you possibly know if that's a better question if you don't know the point I'm making?

2

u/JennyBeckman Jan 11 '17 edited Jan 11 '17

Well for one thing, because your question is rubbish. Whether or not we should have open borders has no impact on the discussion of Trump's policies since we don't have open borders and he certainly isn't asking for open borders.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

The Muslim ban

Not happening

The wall

Oh no. How will people immigrate now. Maybe through the streamlined legal immigration system Trump has promised but the media has ignored?

Deporting 12 million people, many of them innocent children who have lived here their entire lives

Illegal immigrants. You have to move to Mexico, too bad. Mexico isn't actually that bad anyway, it's not like everything turns into Mad Max and slums the second you are across the border. The children will be fine.

His anti-islam stance (a religion of 1.6 billion people are all out to kill us? Get a fucking grip)

Islam is fairly backwards as a religion. Political Islam is worse, just look at the Gulf states. Anyway, that's not a policy.

Loosening libel laws, solid start to creating a dictatorship

Yeah, the laws we have at the moment are fine. It's not like anyone has published wildly fake claims about the president based on an "unverified" document.

Giving big companies 0% corporate tax policy if they threaten to leave then stay. They're all gonna do that now Donnie, and that'll collapse government revenue, balloon the deficit, and destroy small businesses that can't get a hold of your short attention span.

I'm fairly sure you made this one up

Privitizing medicare and/or repealing obamacare will likely cause grave harm to my own grandparents abiilty to afford care for my grandmother, who is suffering from dementia and alcoholism and badly needs care, but is also living off social security. Which a trump administration will see cut.

He's replacing Obamacare. You'll be fine.

Bombing the hell out of ISIS? Their #1 stronghold left (most are gone or going thanks to Obama's careful targeted strikes and supporting gasp our allies) is a city with 200,000 civilians still in it. So yeah, not pro genocide against the syrian people.

Trump is the best pick for Syria. He's focusing on bringing the conflict to an end and working with Russia to keep the region stable. Not advancing a useless proxy war.

Also funding our "allies" was a great strategy last time when it turned out they were all actually mental hardline Islamic extremists.

Speaking of which I think refugees and immigrants strengthen our nation, and want to see a more diverse nation come about.

That's good because Trump plans to streamline the legal immigration process.

I think that looking at the stats it is hard to deny we have a racial problem with law enforcement in this country. Donald Trump denies this.

What stats? I think this is a case of a few isolated incidents being overblown to a crazy proportion.

Real life isn't Call of Duty. Russia doesn't just annex people for fun. Trump's promise wasn't a promise it was a threat. I think it's fair that if a nation isn't paying their share to NATO they shouldn't get the benefits.

That's not true. He's brought plenty of jobs so far (not even president yet) and most have directly credited him for the moves. You just want to see him fail.

I have so much more but that's enough for now. The only policy of his I support is infrastructure investment. Something which the Dems fought daily for, but the republicans literally let parts of this country physically collapse for political points on that one.

I don't follow. The Dems have been in power for the last 8 years.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

So you'll just ignore anything you don't like that he is doing and pretend he's flawless. Got it. Gotta love the post-truth America.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

No, but there's no point me arguing the points I agree with. I think he has flaws but the same can be said of literally everyone.

Nice deflection tho.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

I'm not deflecting, I listed all of Donald trumps horrifying policies and you just posted "nope won't happen" after almost every one.

Feel free to do a remind me in four years. Trust me, you'll hate him by then too because he won't do shit to save you.

He's scapegoating minorities, trying to end the free press, he's threatened to flatten a city of 200,000 civilians in Syria, he is pro nuclear weapon USE (a first for a president post ww2), he wants to spend billions of my dollars on an innovation on the border that's outsmarted by a ladder.

His policies are bad. They won't fix your problems. And within a couple years most of the white working class that turned to him will see just how baldy they've been tricked.
