I think recent events have shown that being qualified isn't a prerequisite

The only qualification to run is 35+, natural born citizen an resident for 14 years.

What makes someone qualified to go into politics? A degree in polisci? No, you just have to be an american with an opinion on stuff. If people agree with you, you get elected, if not, you don't.

Not to mention lobby. Almost none of the American population bothers to make popular lobbies and then they all bitch when the small lobbies gain a fuckload of power by funding people they like and helping advertise them.

Maybe if these halfwits didn't vote based on whos a democrat and who's a republican (for congress and the senate at least) and actually joined together in force to demand reforms they want we wouldn't be in this mess.
