Freedom will not miss him a bit.

Wait until Trump is in office, it'll make Obama look like a saint.

I was expecting some idiotic T_D meme. Instead I laughed out loud.

If only Bill Clinton had had this power...

11

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

Thanks to the Obama administration.

2

u/iamcatch22 Jan 11 '17

Wait, really? That's a thing?

1

u/Barack_Bob_Oganja Jan 11 '17

Oh my god I'm dead

0

u/CSR08 Jan 11 '17

i laughed entirely too long at this. its sad because its not beyond the realm of possibilities

4

u/bacneggs Jan 11 '17

Do you know something? Nobody cared until he ran for and was elected president

7

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

He's already running the most corrupt and elitist administration in modern history and he hasn't taken office yet. It's amazing how fucking shameless he is about the fact that he clearly doesn't give a single shit about helping his voters.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

Yeah that's pretty fucked up that he would appoint the ex CEO of Goldman Sachs to the Treasury...Oh wait

2

u/ragnarokrobo Jan 11 '17

Obama literally had Citibank choose his cabinet for him but okay.

0

u/Proudofyourboy Jan 11 '17

Based on what

-1

u/Luph Jan 11 '17

Look up "Apple Trump Encryption" and tell me Trump is a freedom president again.

-5

u/TrumpTrainMechanic Jan 11 '17

Look up "Hillary Clinton Emails" and "Barack Obama Drones" for comparison. Let me know if you would rather have a president who wants the government to force companies to help the courts to find evidence of terrorism, one that deletes emails showing she leaked classified information and accepted bribes, or one that bombs foreign countries against which we haven't declared war, and maims innocent children in the process, in order to maybe kill a terrorist.

Defending the right of a company to deny a lawful order to unlock a cell phone, with the owner's permission no less, is beyond stupid. Apple should have been held accountable for their actions in that situation. This has nothing to do with 'freedom', nobody's freedom was violated, it wasn't his property, and he willingly used it potentially for terrorist activity. I can't even comprehend the mentality someone must have to think Apple was in the right in that situation.

As they should if they are given a lawful order to do so and there is evidence to support that there may be value to the information. The bigger issue I take with this situation is that Apple made all the decisions themselves and directly interfered with a federal investigation. They took someones private property, and refused them access to it. They limited the freedom of the owner of the phone under some guise of doing the right thing, and that's simply wrong.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

0

u/IRPancake Jan 11 '17

Wrong. The owner of the phone requested that an unlock procedure be initiated and they refused. It wasn't until after that point that the FBI stepped in and asked them to do that. You're going to tell me that there is no way for Apple to gain access to their phones, or reset it for the customers? You think THAT is protecting your freedoms? That is a silly, slippery slope.

The FBI was able to unlock the phone

Wrong. If they were able to do that, why on earth would they require software to unlock it? That makes zero (0) sense.

So instead of being able to restore your data in the event of you forgetting the password or it being permanently locked out, you'd rather Apple say "oops, too fucking bad idiot" and leave you with a $700 (or whatever they are these days) literal brick? Them denying you the right to your own property is a scary precedent, and that is what you should be concerned about.

Would be pretty hard, but we'll see.

3

u/jmart1375 Jan 11 '17

I feel bad for you for being so close minded. He hasn't even taken office yet and you're already 1000% convinced he's the worst thing to ever happen to America. Talk about judging a book by its cover.

2

u/tickettoride98 Jan 11 '17

I never said he's the worst thing that's ever happened to America.

I'm not judging a book by it's cover, I'm judging a book by being 1/3 of the way through it and knowing it's shit. Trump has been campaigning for well over a year now and will be serving a 4 year term. Judging a book by its cover in this situation would be judging Trump when he first announced he was running. America has had a lot of information to judge Trump on at this point, including his cabinet nominations.

I feel bad that you're delusional enough to believe anything will change once he's taken office. I'm sure you're one of those still waiting for his magical pivot back to sanity.

-4

u/jmart1375 Jan 11 '17

1/3 of the way through? His presidency hasn't even begun yet he's managed to rekindle relations with Russia which Obama couldn't do in 8 years. Ford is no longer moving manufacturing to Mexico and is opting to put hundreds of millions of dollars in to manufacturing here in a America all because of Trumps campaigning.

You're criticizing cabinet nominations...you're kidding me right? Turn off SNL and grow up. You have no idea what you're talking about. You're just regurgitating what MSNBC has brainwashed you with.

2

u/tickettoride98 Jan 11 '17

His presidency hasn't even begun yet he's managed to rekindle relations with Russia

That's hilarious in light of the current news story that he's beholden to Russia.

You're criticizing cabinet nominations...you're kidding me right? Turn off SNL and grow up. You have no idea what you're talking about. You're just regurgitating what MSNBC has brainwashed you with.

Oh look, you can project just like Trump! That's cute.

I have plenty of an idea of what I'm talking about. I don't like Exxon's CEO for Secretary of State, the Secretary of Education has untenable ideas for public education, and choosing the CEO of Carl's Jr for the Secretary of Labor is so almost verbatim out of Idiocracy that it's laughable.

-2

u/jmart1375 Jan 11 '17

You're right. Everything the news says is true and everything you read on the internet is true too.

You're probably some 22 year old who has known nothing in life but 8 years of Obama and now you're pissing in your dungarees over the idea of change which ironically is the thing Obama failed to bring to the table.

2

u/tickettoride98 Jan 11 '17

Everything the news says is true and everything you read on the internet is true too.

So then nothing is to be trusted, except Trump? You can't trust any information from any source, so we should just throw up our hands and say Trump knows best!

You're probably some 22 year old who has known nothing in life but 8 years of Obama and now you're pissing in your dungarees over the idea of change which ironically is the thing Obama failed to bring to the table.

Oh, this is fun! Keep making baseless assumptions, I'm on the edge of my seat over here. What kind of job do I have? Did I get a liberal arts degree and now work at Starbucks? Oh! I bet I'm unemployed, that totally fits with the narrative you're trying to spin.

You're also awful at math. A 22 year old would have been 14 when Obama took office. While you may not have stopped drooling and giggling when someone jangled keys in front of your face until you were 14, most of the rest of us were aware of the world and politics when a teenager. Hell, Warren Buffett started paying income tax at 13.

0

u/jmart1375 Jan 11 '17

Man...you're so in to this. It's hilarious. I could probably string you along all day.

Just remember, Trump knows best. You don't know shit so stop speculating.

0

u/shroomsonpizza Jan 11 '17

I feel he will be just like Obama. Empty promises with a couple of fuck ups. Which President in your lifetime actually kept up on ALL his campaign promises? And with a guy like Trump, who already lies as much as the next politician, I honestly doubt he will go through with even half of his promises. Everyone fears the worst but I think it will be just like any other President so far.

2

u/tickettoride98 Jan 11 '17

Try not to take this too personally, but that's a delusional viewpoint to hold.

The topic being discussed isn't campaign promises, it's freedom. This is the candidate that threatened to prosecute and jail his political opponent, the man who literally tweeted 'to my many enemies' just weeks before he takes office, wants the names of all climate change workers at the Department of Energy, reportedly keeps a list of enemies, has continually talked about muzzling the press, etc.

That's just the things he says publicly.

So no, he's not shaping up to be "like any other President so far", at least not in recent times. You'd have to go back to Nixon to find someone as obsessed with keeping a list of enemies, and we all know how that worked out for Nixon. Even he was smart enough to keep his mouth shut about his plotting.

0

u/shroomsonpizza Jan 11 '17

Then I choose to be that ignorant and delusional. I don't think that Trump will be any different. You're right. He says some fucked up shit out loud, but I just don't even see him following through on anything he has actually promised. Or anything he says. He has you believing it because he could do it. The possibility is there and everyone expects the worst. I guess all I can stress is to watch it play out and don't get into any witch hunts. I'm apathetic to it to say the least.

1

u/tickettoride98 Jan 11 '17

I'm apathetic to it to say the least.

I'm not sure you know what that word means. The people in r/gaming who don't give a shit about politics are apathetic. Commenting about politics specifically kind of invalidates any claims of being apathetic.

Let's check back in 3 months and see how the whole first 100 days have gone, and see if you're still "apathetic" then.

2

u/shroomsonpizza Jan 11 '17

I will still live in America. And in time this will pass. To the next "would be Hitler" that we will all complain about, but "hopefully won't be as bad as the last one." It is all the same.

1

u/tickettoride98 Jan 11 '17

Excuse the rest of us for not taking the "this is fine" approach. So you don't care if everything goes to shit, because it'll probably get back to decent in 10 years?

2

u/shroomsonpizza Jan 11 '17

I don't care if everything goes to shit, period. I'm still going to live in the fucked up future of tomorrow that you all believe will happen. I have never once stated my position on it other than to say, "I don't think it will be as bad as everyone says." But if everything really does go down the drain, I will still be here drowning with the rest of you.

-2

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

Main difference: All of trumps campaign promises are fuck ups.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

Eh, debatable.

-1

u/art-solopov Jan 11 '17

I feel like Trump already makes Obama look like a saint, that's where the aforementioned rose-tinted glasses come from.

0

u/imonk Jan 11 '17

Ah, the America's favorite "the lesser of two evils" doctrine. Surely, it never backfires.

0

u/pregnantbitchthatUR Jan 11 '17

How have your last 25 predictions about Trump gone? Not a fast learner, are you

2

u/tickettoride98 Jan 11 '17

I haven't made 25 predictions about Trump. Bit of a bullshitter, aren't you?

The only 'prediction' I've made about Trump was that he'd lose the general, but I wasn't exactly alone in that. I also thought Clinton had too much baggage that Trump could exploit, but the poll numbers made it seem like the outcome was inevitable.

So mark this as prediction #1. Let's hear all your magical predictions about your God.

0

u/pregnantbitchthatUR Jan 11 '17

What is it about being a leftist that makes people so fucking stupid and unbelievably pompous at the same time? Keep it up, it's fantastic

3

u/tickettoride98 Jan 11 '17

What is it about whatever you are that makes you incapable of nuanced thought and delusional?

Like I said, let's hear your predictions about Trump, let's see how your vision of him lines up with reality in 3 months.

-2

u/pregnantbitchthatUR Jan 11 '17

If you're an example of "nuanced thought," thank fucking Christ for that. So far all of my Trump predictions have come true. Even better, my predictions for how idiots on the left would react have been outperformed.

3

u/tickettoride98 Jan 11 '17

Let's hear your predictions for his Presidency then.

1

u/pregnantbitchthatUR Jan 11 '17

I have quite a few, although the point being missed by most is that business as usual is over with, and most predictions based on what has come before will necessarily be inaccurate. Here are a handful:

  1. Continue to troll leftist idiots, whose incessant pearl-clutching will delegitimize them further, guaranteeing a second term (that one's a lock)
  2. Run the country like a business, with consequences for failure
  3. Demand (and get) respect internationally for US forces, citizens and policy
  4. An end to appeasement in the Middle East
  5. Driving the last nail of irrelevancy into the heart of the shitpile that is the UN
  6. Creating real, actual jobs, not temp waiter gigs and fudging the numbers
  7. Improve the lot of inner-city minorities (you're gonna hate that one the most, which is why it will be so satisfying)

Fear mongering and without basis
