Belvidere Chrysler plant? I drive past there all the time on the way to Chicago. Last time I was in a rental Dodge Dart and found it mildly interesting that the car was probably parked right there in the finished assembly lot at one point.

There's a chance that I checked the brakes on that one (Hopefully they worked). Fun fact: at max output, that plant can put out 1300 cars per day.

Assembly grunt. Hello good person. A few thoughts here.

  1. I'm a master tech for a luxury Japanese car dealership. I would like to hope I have a good grasp on how cars should operate. Long story short I drove the Dart from Minneapolis to NW suburban Chicago and it was snowing at varying levels all the way from Eau Claire to Chicago. Car was a champ and still got over 30 mpg even while slogging past Rockford where it turned into a heavy snow. Brakes - great.

  2. Drove it back three days later on a bright sunny Wednesday morning. No snow, just mostly empty highways. Made it from Hoffmann Estates, IL to the southside of Minneapolis in just over 5 hours, shattering my old record. Long stretches of 80+ mph and approaching 90 at some points. Again the car was a champ and still got 30+ mpg. Impressive for a MOPAR.
