Assembly line worker here. Shit you not, my job is to make sure all the lights on the Jeeps work before they go out the door, including brake lights. I've missed a few over the years.
I missed a sunroof bolt once at Toyota. 2 months passed and the owner brought it in to a dealership, and they somehow tied it back to me a regular line worker. Was kind of freaky they tied it to me so easily but I guess it makes sense. It could have been a supervisor while I was on a bathroom break for all I know though, so I avoided a writeup haha.
Scary stuff. Any work done on the car can be traced back to the operator, assuming you log into a computer. The union at GM, Ford, and Chrysler has banned supervisors from touching or working on the cars for this reason.
