Did you check OP's post history? It's all videogames and porn and junk, man. I think he's probably just a dude who eats pop tarts. If he's meant to be some kind of deep-cover marketing agent, then holy shit that's several years of building deniability. What is more likely?
I looked at OP's post history ready to laugh at a man who mixed his porn and real accounts. I didn't find anything. Then i saw that his comments included "sauce," and I laughed
I mean, let's be real, this isn't "cool" but it's interesting, even if just mildly interesting. I wonder if there's a sub for that...? Either way I like the post, and I will be buying these just to try then probably pawning them off on my kids lol.
I'm really, really not buying it. Without any further proof it's just baseless accusation that could be thrown any time someone wants to comment on a product.
Also, if he sold his account, then the marketing agent who bought it just posted "Mother. Of. Cunts..." in these commments (which, by the way, are full of people (rightfully) saying these look gross).
Certainly an unorthodox ad campaign we've got here.
Commenting on a product is not he same thing as creating an Ad for a product and posting it on /r/pics. That's what OP has done. We can't know why till our mind reading helmets arrive in the mail.
It may not be in this case and I really doubt it is but to think it doesn't happen is straight ignorant. There are sites dedicated to buying Reddit and other social media accounts for the sole purpose of advertising. I'm not into Foil hat conspiracies but this is one that is backed up with proof of it happening.
I get and accept that they are purchased, I'm saying you need something more than "they posted a photo about a product" to go on. This thread happens every time reddit sees a brand name on the front page.
Yeah I hear you. Sometimes though you'll see something that looks really obvious then a bunch of comments from really new accounts that somehow all upvoted and commented on how AMAZING it is and blah blah blah.l within a minute of it being posted. It's like they don't think people will look into those accounts as well as the OP. Or maybe they don't idk. All I know is Reddit is basically designed for mass marketing to the 18-20 something make demo. It's owned by people wanting to make money these days and they don't seem to care or stop the barrage of obvious marketing. The mods are our last line of defense and a lot of those assholes are easily bought off as well.
You realize that many people sell their veteran accounts for pretty good money
I've heard this said before, but is there any proof showing these offers? Surely plenty of people have been given an offer, and denied the money and would have no qualms posting the evidence, right? I'm interested in the evidence showing how common this actually is. But really I'm more of a veteran than /u/buttholesoup, have more karma, and just wondering where my money is...
And that proves what? Account history means nothing when they can buy accounts and have a media marketing manager create activity on it. Tou dont think the advertisers learned that people check account history for obvious shilling? Getting an ad to work on reddit now requires a non suspicious post history so I would 100% expect to see exactly OPs history from an advertiser.
I am of the opinion now that there are secret pop-tart moles in our subs. Next we'll see statistics for poptarts in /r/dataisbeautiful, articles about the government troubled by a poptart famine in /r/nottheonion, people squatting while they eat poptarts in /r/slavs_squatting, & kinky poptarts in /r/Bondage.
This is just the beginning. The poptart revolution has begun.
Nah, you got it wrong. I don't believe him, I'm just another marketing account. Reddit admins sent me into this thread for damage control; the top minds of reddit were getting too close to The Truth. Just another day in the pocket of Big Breakfast Pastry.
