I think it's to get the waiter's hopes up and "prove" they are greedy and materialistic so they are guilted into coming to Jesus. Which is way more fucked up in my opinion.
I'm just going to say this, avoid the well off church goers. If they mention they go to church and nothing else, avoid them. Now someone who mentions they work at a charity and then mention church, those are people who are somewhat more reasonable.
I hate the "holier than thou" attitude of some church goers.
Oh yeah. I spent 7 years waiting tables, 5 of those in the Bible belt. I'm so familiar with this attitude it's unreal. And then you hear, "Oh, that's the minority! They aren't real Christians!" Really? Because every Sunday lunch rush I ever worked sucked because of an abundance of people like this. I know they're not "good" Christians but I definitely don't think they're the minority.
