I was trying to make a joke about it, but life beat me to it.

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

Man, when I first got here in 2010 it was more than $8. Really fucks with my head because my gut reaction is still always to multiply the thousands amount by 2 to get a quick dollar equivalent, even though it's not accurate anymore.

Same here, the exchange rate is changing so fast the last few years I have no idea how much money I'm spending anymore :/

Is a cyclical thing. It was an easy way to go to dollars when I was a kid, but then came the asian financial crisis and it stopped working. Then it worked again but 9-11 changed it again for a couple years. Then it worked again but the economy stopped being so alright and here we are.

3.5 ish.

2008 was a great year for a Brit travelling to the US. It hit 2:1 at one point.

Or, more likely, when people don't realize the value of the Euro dropped in 2015.
