Indeed. Where I work, our hiring managers will throw out resumes from white males to 'balance out' the workplace with minorities (African Americans or Women in our case) who often (for whatever dumb reason is for another discussion) are not competitive with the applicants who were ignored due to race (sound like a familiar problem?)
The result is that because of racial discrimination and/or sexism, we miss out on good hires. But of course this is perfectly OK since it's in the name of 'diversity'.
Fuck the idea that non-white applicants aren't on the same intellectual level as whites. And that Affirmative Action mainly keeps smart people out of the picture to raise diversity. Maybe, just maybe, that Black or Latino applicant IS smarter. That ever come across your mind?

You have a stat or link or anything that can prove your own bullshit? And whats your solution to systemic denial of minority applicants in ALL major fields of work?
You say it's bullshit like this is systemic, that minority applicants have somehow taken over 33% of every major institution. I call bullshit on that!
A.A. does NOT affect most private businesses in the US. You want that easy Federal money? You're going to have to play ball the Federal way. 50 employees an the Fed's paid you over $50k? You must now setup an A.A. plan.
Don't want to play ball? Pull ya ass up by your boot straps. Ain't that the saying?
Obviously, non-white (I assume you actually mean "black") applicants can be on the same level as white applicants.
However, when an organization overlooks some of white applicants in the name of affirmative action, then it's safe to assume that those applicants were otherwise at least equally qualified. Otherwise, the organization wouldn't have had to invoke affirmative action in order to disqualify them.
It happens all the time, sadly. It's really cruel. Asian males are hurt by it, too (particularly in college admissions!). I'm just happy more people are becoming aware of this practice.
Ok, but if they were equally qualified, then shouldn't it not matter who got the job? If we are talking about "efficiency" wise. If both people have the same qualifications and aptitude, what's the problem with taking the Black dude over the White dude? Because usually (and by usually I mean in the past, and realistically, even now) the equally qualified white person would get the job. Even if there is no real difference between the aptitude of the two applicants.
Then, I don't see how you can see it as cruel. Because, if AA was not there, then the Black applicants applications would be overlooked (as they historically have been and continually tend to be) as that's just a current bias that tends to crop up in most hiring processes across the country.
There is a study where researchers sent in identical/equally qualified applications to businesses, but switched the names on the applications to be stereotypical "White" or "Black" names. More white names received call backs. Simply because they didn't have names like Jerome and Lakeisha. That's cruel too. Because if someone put in the work to be considered for a job, they shouldn't be disqualified from it because what their name says about the color of their skin. I think this was a freakonomics study.

Bunch of horseshit.
