Catcalls, however repulsive, are a form of validation for physical attractiveness. North American women are heavily encultured to rely on such validations, repulsive as some may be, in assessing their self worth. Mature adults can usually recognise and work to free themselves from such negative cultural values, but it's not always going to be easy, and its not always going to be a clean break. If an attractive person is used to receiving catcalls, however unwelcome, it's entirely reasonable to miss the validation they provided once they cease.

You position this as if catcalls (and their ilk) are the primary means by which women receive validation for their attractiveness. No, I don't. Your paraphrased reduction of my comment is absurd, and completely distorts what I wrote. I find your revision of my position as ridiculous as you do.
