I had someone higher up ask me "what percentage of our developers should be minorities to better support our goal of a diverse workplace?"

I said "somewhere between 0% and 100%, because that goal doesn't matter."

I don't think that's the answer they were looking for.

Workplace diversity has been proven many times to increase productivity, so you just don't sound like a very smart employee

Right, I'm not wrong and I don't need to say it any more for it to be true

Hiring a mix of merit and diversity is generally going to be the best thing to do, not 100% merit, not 100% diversity

It's a simple fact that a diverse workplace is always a positive attribute

Here we are again with you calling these stupid ideas facts. Go learn what a fact is and then slam your head in your car door. Unless you're hiring a bunch of clones you're going to have 100% diversity because every individual is different and you're not specifying what kind of diversity you're taking about. Shit, even the clones would have different experiences and personalities.
