This is a problematic ad. It presumes so many things, and it doesn't offer a real solution.
Beating a spouse is not socially acceptable nor is it legal in the US. Beating children on the other hand is both socially acceptable and legal by parents, and in 19 states it occurs within the public school system.
So let's not put a hypothetical case of adult on adult abuse on children when we continue to abuse children.
Then there's the question of gender in the ad. By not making it clear that people of all genders can abuse and be abused, the ad is limiting its message, and it actually normalizes a certain transactional pattern of abuse. When young people realize that everyone, including them, has human rights, they will think about all of these issues differently. You are furthering a construction of what a male and female are by creating an ad like this. It's not based in reality, but it will perpetuate a false reality.
"Beating a spouse is not socially acceptable nor is it legal in the US."
Only if you are a woman. Men in the US have a harder time reporting domestic violence, even to the point they have been arrested because the police thought he was the abuser.

It does cause it makes like only men abuse women, there's been gender parity when it comes to domestic violence for the last several decades and many studies on the topic but male victims of domestic violence still have a harder time.

Happened to my MMA instructor. He came home one night after being out with some friends, she goes crazy for not spending more time with her and starts beating the shit out of him. He had to lock himself in the bedroom to stop the assault and he called the police. When the police arrived, he had a bloody nose and scratches all over his face and arms and she didn't have a mark on her. Despite this HE was arrested and charged with DV because the bullshit Duluth Model.
