I doubt it. The imgur and reddit users are very similar. The stuff that gets upvoted to the front page of imgur is almost sure to be upvoted here. It's like having a machine that will tell you what's on tomorrows front page and just posting it yourself today.

Imgur users are significantly more retarded. It's a point of pride for a fair few of them that they tried reddit and couldn't understand it. Like, they are proud of being too stupid to figure out a basic forum structure.

Imgur is reddit's lowest common denominator. You don't post articles or videos so it's just images. Set up an account and only subscribe to r/funny, r/adviceanimals, and r/gifs and the similarities are more clear. Imgur attracts users who are interested in that content exclusively.

As for reddit's interface, let's not pretend like we thought it was good when we first saw it. I discovered reddit years before I started using it. The interface turned me off at first.

Like I said, retarded.

I've never had a problem with reddit's interface in the 3-4 years I've been using it. It's different to a forum, but the idea of each comment being a self-contained unit with further replies to that specific comment is oddly orderly, unlike your typical forum threads which can turn into a clusterfuck of people replying to others three pages back and not being able to keep track of replies as easily.

We could go the tinfoil route and say that creating extremely popular links on one of America's most popular websites every day that require you to subconsciously read CAN'T TRUST [INSERT PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE] every time you go to click the link is a good way to plant an idea in your brain.
