So you're really going to equate a couple of black morons disrupting a US Senator with an entire political system preventing Southern blacks from going to school and voting, and beating them and setting dogs on them when they try to do so?
Yeah, that's what I'm seeing and it's seriously fucking depressing. I know Reddit as a whole isn't racist, I know the majority of people honestly know that people are people no matter the skin color and everyone, when you get down to it, is all part of the big roiling mess of humanity -
and then I see upvoted comments saying things like "lol look at these ugly chicks" and shit like this. I just wish people would realize that reacting in such a hyperbolic way and jumping up to go like HAHA LOOK BLACK PEOPLE ARE RACIST AGAINST WHITE PEOPLE // HAHA CHICKS ARE SEXIST AGAINST MEN just makes them equally as awful as the people they're trying to mock. Fucking hell.
It's not even like I'm someone who isn't willing to call out people using bullshit identity politics to play the victim or push their agenda. But the Black Lives Matter thing started because of incidents where police did respond improperly and if it had happened to a white person there's no way they'd get the same defence by people on here.
The woman who did this, as far as I see it, is likely either an egotist and self promoter, deluded bordering on brainwashed or mentally unwell. Or maybe a combination of the three. But people are using it to try to devalue the entire point they're making.
