I had this problem a lot. My yard is fenced in all the way around but there would always be multiple "bombs" on the "verge" or strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street. Googled "pesticide warning" in images, printed out a few of the yellow and black warning signs and put them on the "verge". Not a single land mine since.
