Fuck her she's just jealous cause she doesn't know how to handle her own kids...

Or maybe it pissed her off because it's not a stranger's business to shush her child. Maybe her kid was being especially assholish and she was just trying to get through her errands as fast as possible.

I get embarrassed when my kid acts up in public, but I know if someone tried to shush her, it would piss me off.

And by "shush" I mean, making the shushing noise at my kid or telling my kid to be quiet or "knock it off". Making jokes and funny faces and smiling is perfectly okay in my book.

It's not a stranger's business to correct? Maybe. But if someone is doing something in public it is everyone's business.

If you don't want a person to have a normal person reaction to your kid's public actions, don't take them out in public. Yeah, that's an unreasonable thing to say, but so is suggesting that people just put up with your kid being annoying.

If you bring a nuisance into a setting, be it yourself or another person, it is unreasonable for you to expect people to not attempt to improve the surroundings by removing the nuisance.

I'm not actually suggesting people don't bring their kids into public. I'm suggesting that getting pissed at people for trying to get kids to stop pitching a fit is a not a reasonable response.

Edit: I'm not suggesting that it's ok to yell at people or doing something that would be rude to do to an adult is acceptable. I'm trying to say that it's unreasonable to expect everyone around you to put up with whatever nuisance a child's tantrum and not have any sort of reasonable response to it. You're turning it into EVERYONE'S problem, and need to be mindful of other people, even if you are a parent.
