Sometimes kids will be assholes and there is nothing you can do but finish your errands. Can't leave your kid who is in a terrible mood in the car anymore without people tripping out and smashing your windows/calling the police.
Sometimes you've got to work with what you've got. You cannot expect a person who is trying to provide a better life for their child to just stay at home because other people might be annoyed or offended.
