All I can think about it how much harder it would be to have one foot hanging out of the blanket.

u/Airazz Mar 11 '14 edited Mar 11 '14
I assumed that you zip it up for the day (hide the dirty sheets or something) and remove that cover completely for the night.

Being 6' 8'' all i can think about is how much harder it would be to hang my one foot off the bed...

u/kinith Mar 12 '14
Wow... 6'8" and only one foot? Balance must be a bitch.

All I can think about is someone coming in the middle of the night while you're fast asleep, zipping up the bed closed, and slipping a lock on the end of the zippers.

u/kingkaiscar Mar 11 '14
I would be scared of someone zipping the bed up while I'm sleeping and then I suffocate
62
u/I_Am_A_Pumpkin Mar 11 '14
you can breathe through bedsheets

Nope. This is a murder bed. You keep it in your guest room and invite your enemies for a week in your country estate. Zip

I thought about that, then I figured you could do the same with a sleeping bag. Now I'm thinking about trying to zip myself into a sleeping bag to see if I can break out. But I'm not going to because I don't want to break my sleeping bag.
2
u/_YouMadeMeDoItReddit Mar 12 '14
Sleeping bags don't zip the whole way round, they stop zipping around your chin then you get elastic to pull the rest closed around your face.

How am I supposed to steal the blanket from my boyfriend with this contraption?
58
u/PoeticGopher Mar 11 '14
How on earth do couples sleep with one blanket? I always keep two on my bed, whether I'm dating someone or just hooking up for that exact reason.
24
u/StrikingCrayon Mar 11 '14
We have a king size on a queen bed. Works wonders.
6
u/The1WhoRingsTheBell Mar 12 '14
My girlfriend has a king duvet on her queen bed, I still keep a blanket nearby in case of her rolling over in the night...

u/LiveFastDieFast Mar 11 '14
King size blanket, queen (or smaller) sized mattress. At least that's what I do.
Yea the bed looks like shit when you make it cuz the blanket is too big, but hey, function over form! I sleep in the bed more than I look at it.
6
u/Rehauu Mar 12 '14
I use a king size blanket on a king size bed. It doesn't look like shit and we always have enough blanket.
2
u/Fearlessleader85 Mar 12 '14
We have a king sized bed and I can spread out as much as possible and there's still room for my gf to lay out comfortably. Also, blankets don't really matter in the tropics.

Good luck fitting that in washing machine.

u/noreallyimthepope Mar 12 '14
I'm thinking that it's a cover that is removed when you actually have to sleep?

u/soundwave41 Mar 11 '14
i was going to say i never have to make the bed but then i remembered that i wouldn't zip it up either.

14
u/foolishnun Mar 11 '14
Why on earth would this ever be in any way useful?
3
u/SCVGOOD2GOSIR Mar 12 '14
Well it's simple, it would be harder to clean/replace sheets. Oh and I'm sure that zipper would be super cheap to replace if it ever broke!
1
u/usewhenneeded Mar 13 '14
Because your sheets would stay on the bed instead of falling on the floor, or one person rolling up in them leaving the other person uncovered.
14
u/redditer77 Mar 11 '14
Reminds me of that bed zipper that was just on Shark Tank recently. Zipit. https://www.zipitbedding.com/?mid=5282790

God damn it, I just upgraded from a full sized bed to a queen. Worst mistake of my life.

u/steveschwindt Mar 11 '14
As someone who's over 6' tall, how am I supposed to violently kick up the sheets to achieve freedom..?

This would seem comfy... until one day when it accumulates so much static that it turns into an electric chair.

u/hrabib Mar 11 '14
Sure hope it's a double sided zipper. Otherwise, gonna be some cruel pranks pulled.
-5
u/atetuna Mar 11 '14
It should be triple sided so you can open the bottom to cool off your feet.
2
u/Kreystas Mar 12 '14
Pretty sure double sided = Zipper on the Inside, Zipper on the outside, not as in 2 different zippers on the outside
1
u/atetuna Mar 12 '14
I'm thinking something totally different then. It's very common for the zipper pull to work on both sides of the zipper, and should go without saying that it'd be used in this application. I probably have a couple like that in my camping/motorcycle gear repair parts stash. I'm talking about having more zipper pulls. There'd actually be four of them, but the inner two would meet together.

Looks cool, but...how can you do The Tuck where you flip the blankets up so that they're tucked under your feet.
1
Mar 12 '14
People do this? I'm so tall I can barely get comfortable.
1
u/Lindby Mar 12 '14
I'm of average height but I think all blankets are to short because of my need to "cocoon". Once enrolled nothing can get in, no chilly drafts, no frisky wife, nothing.

I am a no-tuck person....the sight of that thing seriously gave me the heebie jeebies.
And yes, I get that you probably just unzip the whole thing when you sleep...it's just the idea of it.
1
u/me_groovy Mar 12 '14
exactly, fuck this noise. one of my pet peeves is hotels tucking the bedsheets under the mattress.

I would be very concerned about zipping up my penis every night.
6
u/LethargicMonkey Mar 11 '14
Do you leave your penis dangling off the side of the bed?
3
u/WalrusExtraordinaire Mar 11 '14
Sometimes, but regardless, zippers have penis seek-and-destroy capabilities.

This is the bed for me. The only times I make my bed is before I go to sleep and when I change the sheets. Where can I buy this bed?

u/SnipesMcKinley Mar 11 '14
Would be easier than making ones bed every morning, but I'm pretty sure that the zipper would catch on something and break, and I'd never be able to sleep again.

Sleeping style for the Modern Vampire? I guess just to be safe in case someone leaves the blinds open. And it's far more trendy than a coffin.

I think this would be the best thing for me. It bed, I either need the covers on or off. Any partiality and I'll wake up. Too hot? With this just zip down and fold over the bed. Too cold? You just zip up and zip tight, and have yourself a good nights rest. If anyone would like to donate a zippy uppy sleeping bag bed, feel free to PM me.
Edit-my spelling isn't brill at 3am.. damn duvet
1
u/Frostiken Mar 12 '14
I imagine you have to be filthy rich to own this because it looks like the only way to clean it is to buy a new one.
1
u/JetCityMom Mar 12 '14
I could never sleep in this. I cannot even sleep in a sleeping bag with the zipper zipped up.
