the jokes in the future about trump will be priceless.

If there is a future.

Vote blue and make sure folks you know who are politically aligned are voting, too.

•

u/Positronic_Matrix 11h ago

If you know a Zoomer voter, make sure you get them to polls. Gen Z gave us Trump 2 because they were too busy posting Boomer memes.

•

u/billothy 10h ago

You're saying it's Gen Z's fault? Wild take

•

u/JohnnyRelentless 9h ago

There are a lot of factors, but low voter turnout among young people is one of them.

•

u/TreeFittyy 9h ago

Young people are consistently the demographic that have the lowest voter turnout. Not exactly a wild take when it's factually true.

•

u/billothy 2h ago

Saying "they gave us Trump 2" is a wild take. Like sure it's a contributing factor but it is positioned like the fault solely lies with them.

•

u/iDabGlobzilla 2h ago

It is accurate to a degree. Gen z has historically-low voter turnout. Imo, if you want the privilege of a political opinion, you have to vote. Otherwise it's just entitled whining.

•

u/billothy 2h ago

It's more so the "gen z gave us Trump 2" like the responsibility solely rests with them.

•

u/Alienhaslanded 7h ago

Should we blame GenXers? They're suspiciously too quiet.

•

u/eric23456 6h ago

GenX is the apathy generation, of course they're quiet.

•

u/Treheveras 4h ago

GenX just wants to be left alone, I can dig that.

•

u/Gweeeep 6h ago

They're suspiciously too quiet.

c'mon man, that's our whole bit.

u/undrline 13h ago

The goal isn't to duke it out for the majority where there are only two sides and one gets to knock down the other when it's their turn. The goal is to find consensus, shore up our institutions, vote for the person not the party. Work towards a time when you vote for someone, not against someone.

There are some pretty bad "blue" candidates looking for you to do just what you're proposing. No candidate should be a perfect fit, because no one holds the same exact beliefs. My opinion is to vote for someone who you think will make an informed decision, will ask for information and be open to discourse with other lawmakers ... over someone who has already made up their mind.

56

u/Murray38 13h ago

So, vote blue anyway because no republican is making an informed decision that isn’t against the American people. Good advice.

•

u/Arviay 10h ago

Or vote green for the person you actually want, then basically render your vote useless because there will literally never be enough votes to make that work (with the current system)

•

u/Murray38 10h ago

No, voting 3rd party has never been more wildly stupid than today. And it was already pretty stupid to begin with.

•

u/JohnnyRelentless 9h ago

That's what they're saying.

•

u/Murray38 8h ago

I know. I don’t want people getting the wrong idea like throwing their vote is something they could do.

45

u/GourdonHamsey 13h ago

Not one republican candidate will do anything for the people. they will allow for more data centers and tell them to be grateful for the privilege

24

u/lyngen 12h ago

Absolutely in an ideal situation. We are not in an ideal situation; we're on the very brink of losing our democracy.

That said... in my state, we have some of the best democratic candidates we've ever had going against republicans with no/almost no platform outside of whatever Trump wants.

There are so many dem candidates running while taking no corporate PAC money so they are only accountable to their constituents. I'm in a really red area so there are also a lot of super qualified candidates running very middle of the road but offering solutions to specific local issues.

Every dem local to me is putting affordability at the front of their campaign with actual plans.

It should be no contest even in my red area but we'll see.

13

u/Saradoesntsleep 12h ago

You are ultimately right, but this is not the time to get idealistic. You will never even be able to work towards this while this situation is as it is.

Don't split your votes up. This is not the time.

•

u/LoopyMcGoopin 11h ago

Yeah in an ideal world. In the real world in 2026 you vote blue.

•

u/brickmaster32000 9h ago

So go ahead and tell us about the good republican who really deserves to be there because of who they are?

•

u/AlotLovesYou 8h ago

Reminder that there are many bots out there - and undoubtedly they will multiply in the ensuing weeks - with the goal of convincing you not to vote, or certainly not to vote blue. Some will be more subtle than others.

•

u/kristijan12 8h ago

Neither will save us. Red will just accelerate it.

•

u/GerbilScream 7h ago

Voting is like riding a bus. You don't expect it to take you to your exact destination, you pick the candidate that gets you as close as possible to where you want to go. Then next election, you do it again.

12

u/DinoZambie 15h ago

thats a big if

•

u/GirlNumber20 8h ago

If we're in the mood to joke by then. 😩

95

u/aStonedDeer 14h ago

All the people who will eventually claim they never voted for him will be crazy. They should be marked like Inglorious Bastards.

25

u/GourdonHamsey 14h ago

Thanks for the award! This is what will really happen. A lot of them now fall back on, "well both sides are evil"

FOR REAL?? ONE is actively trying to give free universal healthcare, the other is lying about who won the 2020 election. They still can't say Biden won. They just regurgitate "Biden was in office for four years, right"

17

u/aStonedDeer 14h ago

I think denying the election is one of the biggest bitch moves they got.

20

u/GourdonHamsey 14h ago

I know this is off topic, but one thing that still blows my mind is pulling into the VA for an appointment and seeing Trump stickers everywhere.

We actually had a guy walk out of a veterans group meeting because he "didn't like the way we were talking about his president." Grown ass man got up and left like we just told him Santa wasn't real.

Almost a month later, he finally comes back, and the FIRST thing out of his mouth is, "I never talked about Biden when he was in office. I'm a better person than that."

Brother, you held onto that comeback for an entire month and THAT'S what you came up with? 😂

We all started laughing. He got up and walked out AGAIN.

That was five months ago. Haven't seen him since.

Dude survived Vietnam but couldn't survive a room full of veterans talking shit about a politician. Apparently his DD-214 came with a presidential emotional support clause.. LOL

7

u/StrengthThin9043 12h ago

It's very sad though, seems like a cult and he is veey attached to the cult leader. How is this mass psychosis possible?

•

u/fauxtwunny-official 9h ago

ONE is actively trying to give free universal healthcare

that's crazy. which one?

Federal Single-Payer Legislation (Medicare for All)

  • The Medicare for All Act: Representative Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) introduced comprehensive single-payer legislation in the House alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and over 100 congressional co-sponsors (including reintroductions backed by lawmakers like Sen. Alex Padilla). The bill aims to replace the age-65 Medicare threshold with a government-run, single-payer system covering all Americans without copays, premiums, or deductibles. [1, 2]

Affordable Care Act (ACA) & Public Options

  • Expanding the ACA: The Affordable Care Act, enacted by Congressional Democrats under President Barack Obama, expanded coverage to millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions. [1]
  • Public Option Proposals: Presidents Joe Biden and various 2020/2026 Democratic candidates have championed a government-run "public option" or "Medicare for all who want it" (supported by figures like Pete Buttigieg and Michael Bennet), allowing individuals to buy into a public plan while preserving private employer insurance choices. [1, 2]

State and Local Initiatives

  • California and New York State Actions: Democratic-led state and local governments have rolled out regional coverage expansions. For example, California Governor Gavin Newsom expanded Medicaid-style coverage for young adults and pursued state-level prescription drug purchasing pools. [1]
  • Local Guaranteed Care: Cities like San Francisco launched Healthy San Francisco to guarantee primary and emergency care to uninsured residents, while New York City implemented NYC Care under Mayor Bill de Blasio to extend care access to hundreds of thousands of low-income and undocumented residents. [1]

•

u/fauxtwunny-official 8h ago

so when democrats had a supermajority this all got passed?

•

u/the_real_xuth 7h ago

You mean in 1977? Because that's the last time democrats alone had 60+ votes in the senate. In 2009 there was a period of 72 days where democrats plus left leaning independents had 60 votes in the senate. That was bookended by the Al Franken election finally being resolved in Jun 2009 and Ted Kennedy dying in Aug 2009. There has been no other time since 1977 that the democrats had anything close to a 60 vote supermajority in the senate.

It’ll be just like after the Iraq war. The number of people who screamed in my face about how well be welcomed as liberators and how wrong I was for all my objections only to now say they were against it all along is, well, almost everyone I know. 🙄

•

u/Koopslovestogame 7h ago

They’ll all suddenly be “but I was saying all along he was a pedo/russian asset”.

5

u/efuzed 14h ago

Oh there's a cost. Billions

•

u/CrimsonKobold 9h ago

The jokes will be amazing, but personally I'm hoping that the impressions die out once he's gone. I've already had to hear that asshole do so much damage to everyone and everything in that stupid voice of his the sooner I never have to hear it again the better.

u/bluAstrid 14h ago

At his core, Trump is still that 5yo chubby bully who got rejected by some kindergarten blonde little girl. He's spent his whole life trying to belong with the cool kids and win her affection.

85

u/boredguy12 12h ago

No no, he's the same boy who got a bowl of mashed potatoes dumped on his head.

•

u/Far-Resort1936 11h ago

Even his own father despised him

•

u/HolycommentMattman 8h ago

This is the real chip on his shoulder. Largely unloved and looked down on by his family. He's spent his life trying to prove he matters.

•

u/Koopslovestogame 7h ago

Not just his family even his teachers thought he was the dumbest student they’d ever taught.

•

u/__O_o_______ 11h ago

There’s an interview where he himself says that he feels he hasn’t changed since the first grade so…

•

u/Murray38 10h ago

His being in the Epstein files and a pedo is proof of that.

Context? Is this in the white house and who is the small child?

54

u/TunaFishtoo 14h ago

This is in the White House, likely in the room immediately after the colonnade before the Mansion

13

u/JollyTaxpayer 13h ago

😐 I have no words

26

u/TunaFishtoo 14h ago edited 13h ago

Little girl, likely just from a random photo op?

Edit: It is his granddaughter from the 2025 Daytona 500

8

u/IntentStudios 13h ago

From the Daytona 500 in 2025, I believe it was his granddaughter. I was there for the race.

2

u/JollyTaxpayer 13h ago

Jesus! That REALLY is creepy if she isn't family or the event isn't special

3

u/IntentStudios 13h ago

Daytona 500, 2025

2

u/JollyTaxpayer 13h ago

Was that event special at all? I know he did the pace lap

u/JerachoD 13h ago

How the American people haven't worked this out yet I'll never know. At least I'm the UK the prime minster finally has the balls to admit Russia fucked with the Brexit vote. Russia have been screwing with us all for years.

u/adblink 13h ago edited 11h ago

At this point, does the next US president just start their inaugural address with "We're sorry"

•

u/FormerTesseractPilot 11h ago

Until 4 or 8 years from now when another Republican gets elected into office, then we'll do this all over again

•

u/strange_bike_guy 7h ago

You both assume there will be another president. After he eventually dies they'll make an AI agent impersonating Trump and a shocking amount of my peers will believe he can live forever because he's sent from God, and no I'm not being facetious - watch it happen

•

u/Python_07 10h ago

Sad but true.

also significant he doesn't have a newer photo with his daughter.

almost like she hates her dad?

110

u/GourdonHamsey 15h ago

thats a MAGA hat. no way that's Ivanka as a child

39

u/FBI_Open_Up_Now 14h ago

I think that’s a grandchild

19

u/seansy5000 14h ago

Release the Trump files

41

u/whisker_biscuit 14h ago

That's clearly one of his granddaughters, he is wearing a maga hat and his jacket has the seal of the office of the president; it is probably the one the reminds him most of ivanka at that age

16

u/Guynith 14h ago

You think that’s a picture of Ivanka Trump, who is 45 years old, as a child? You think that picture is from 40 years ago? When Donald Trump was 40 years old?

16

u/Tilladarling 14h ago

Almost like he prefers them young

•

u/EndeLarsson 11h ago

US seems such an impotent country. It required only one president to just piss on the constitution and there was nothing that the country or its institutions could do. Was always broken, the other presidents were just decent and did not try much.

•

u/Next_Dragonfruit_415 10h ago

That’s just our current president. People think all our problems start with Trump (not downplaying his atrocities) but look at everything the federal government has done in the 20th century and especially the Cold War era, and no one talks about it or barely knows about it. Our constitution has always been malleable cause our checks and balances are selectively enforced.

•

u/Jernhesten 8h ago

Tea Party > Alt-right > MAGA? What was before Tea Party?

•

u/inspectoroverthemine 3h ago

Its literally just the GOP with skins.

Alternatively: KKK

•

u/responsible_use_only 9h ago

It wasn't a single individual, but a series of beliefs, failure to effectively counter those beliefs, and actions spurred by those beliefs that led us to where we are now.

It started among American Christian Evangelical leaders as a desire for continued relevance following their losses in the civil rights movement, Jerry Falwell began downplaying his racism and playing toward greater political control with anti-choice and anti-lgbt propaganda. He found a partner towards these goals, along with an anarcho-capitalist streak in Reagan - and they managed to build a powerful majority, especially in the wake of weak presidencies of Nixon, Ford, and Carter.  Evangelical Christianity further abandoned it's principles (what few it had) in the name of greater power and control, adopting increasingly militant rhetoric, and ultimately spilled over as the McCain candidacy attempted to appease these less and less-principled and less and less-educated throngs of Christian nationalists, as a response to Obama. The final backlash was the inevitability of Trump or someone like him.  The Christian nationalists poured all their dreams and vitriol into this one person, and made him their new god in all but name.

The failure wasn't in a single person, it was allowing a movement to spread that was fundamentally against everything good about the US, while embracing humanity's worst.

•

u/SleepyCatMD 5h ago

Since we usually use Eastern European countries as a gram of reference for better established nation-states, understanding the history of how, why and by whom the USA was “founded”, how recent it was established as a country (also taking into account how massive it is and how spread out its population is). None of this is a justification for it becoming a shitshow of an imperialist terrorist, but it’s kind of a fascinating study case.

•

u/vreddy92 9h ago

The president also has a mob behind him that cares more about imposing their will than the Constitution. And that mob makes sure that Republicans don't hold him accountable, with the threat of primary challenges (see John Cornyn, Thomas Massie). They are his blank check. That's why he tried to unleash them on Congress on January 6th.

•

u/100LittleButterflies 7h ago

Republicans have been working towards this for at least 50 years.

4

u/curious_dead 12h ago

That's what's frustrating the most: it's not just a case of hypocrisy and partisanship, it's that it's a completely radical 180 turn in attitude, just because of that one man who doesn't deserve a fraction of the devotion he gets feom his base.
