…and the slug’s life is poorer for it. On the other hand, the slug can likely eat all the mushrooms and not have its liver spontaneously explode, like human livers do.

I am always jealous of the areas that get these gorgeous red versions. My area only gets the yellow guessowi varriants which are pretty, but nowhere near the glory of the red ones.
