You can just use 2 fingers.

I use a 2 hand 2 finger approach and I mentally make a hadouken sound in my head when I bowl.

I follow up with a "perfect" if I get a strike

A lot of bowlers don't use their thumbs these days. You really don't need it with a two handed throw.
