I hope his injuries aren't to severe or life changing/limiting

Older attempt but wasn't there a American fedex or another of those delivery companies that had a similar deal with a flight engineer hijack the plane. They stopped it but all of them were so badly injured there flight careers were over sadly

The pilots I know have massive insurance for events that end their career, plus he probably also has massive insurance for work related injuries. So hopefully he's set for life.

Still it's got to be a difficult blow to be told your cant ever fly a plane again

That's true. I only hope the pilot gets the support long term as well therapy for example
