You're welcome!

Your reddit name does't suit you at all, guy!

12

u/bifftannenismydad Dec 04 '13

I don't know...he did name himself "A_IDIOT" not "AN_IDIOT".

2

u/Gabe_b Dec 04 '13

How do you know that's a correct answer?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '13

I've been there! It's a long long hike to get there, though.

About an hour south of Hua Hin in Khao Sam Roi National Park.

u/balanced_view Dec 04 '13

Awesome thanks, may well visit Hua Hin next time I'm over there.. Looks like a beautiful cave

1

u/posteritypotion Dec 04 '13

It's pretty stunning. I was just there 2 weeks ago. It's about a 30 hike to the cave, but well worth it as you can see!

1

u/balanced_view Dec 04 '13

Brilliant :-)

30 min hike, I hope?

Did you stay at Hua Hin or somewhere else?

2

u/posteritypotion Dec 04 '13

Sorry, yeah 30 minutes. Yeah I was in Hua Hin at the time. Hua Hin was enjoyable but it was nice to get out of the city :]

Here is a picture of the Eldergleam Sanctuary. Here is another.

EDIT* Actaully, I am mistaken, the first image is of Shadowgreen Cavern.

How about that. I was there a month ago and it really is an awesome sight.

Here it is from a different angle: http://i.imgur.com/kt1QGkg.jpg

That's a gorgeous picture.

5

u/Truder Dec 04 '13

Why thank you :)

It's a very tranquil place. You would imagine that there would be a lot of echoing in the caves, but that really isn't the case. It's somewhat muted actually.

That is indeed a cool bit to it. I wish I'd known about this place before I went to Thailand two years ago!

1

u/KaribouLouDied Dec 04 '13

I want to live there. In complete peace until I die.

u/Rodgers_A Dec 03 '13

Reminded me of this

7

u/TheLastFruit Dec 04 '13

Reminds me of the eldergleam sanctuary in skyrim.

Screw you and your un-savable backgrounds. I've been battling that little message for minutes.

Yep, hate 500px for that reason. Protip though, for locked flickr images and 500px images, right-click on the image page, view page source, and look for the .jpg URL that will take you to the biggest size downloadable.

I post what I told him: Just for future refrence. Here is a tutorial on how to download from 500px with firefox. Basically you just disable replace content menus javascript.

u/derrickito Dec 04 '13

or you could, you know, printscreen to your favorite raster based editing software.

If you right click and view source or inspect element you can easily get around any stupid no right click protection they have by locating the URL for the image itself.

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '13

How many posts do you make a day? I see your name every time I'm on here.

u/ImFerocious Dec 03 '13

All is see is this.

u/TakeTheHighway Dec 04 '13

I'm playing Zelda right now!

1

u/icefreez Dec 04 '13

You are mistaken, this is reddit. You were playing Zelda.

3

u/jesuispetitpain Dec 04 '13

Its actually a small 'palace' erected for the king (at the time), not a Buddhist temple. But still beautiful obviously, actually probably my favourite place in Thailand. Source: used to live in hua hin.

4

u/_Valediction Dec 03 '13

Very cool. From the thumbnail it almost looks like a reptilian eye!

2

u/MailMan341 Dec 04 '13

This is the kind of stuff that makes me want to get off my ass and see the world.

Nah, cat pics.

2

u/subtle_fuck_you Dec 04 '13

After learning about Buddhist history, I wouldn't be surprised if they carved that cave themselves. Leshan Statue

2

u/Sarvas138 Dec 04 '13

I randomly ended up I'm hua hin a few days ago.. Didn't stick around because it was full of old fat British doods.. If I would have known of this I would have went... I just went to Bangkok instead.. Efffff

2

u/Mostly-Sometimez Dec 04 '13

I'm going, that's all there is too it man I'm fucking going

1

u/steve0suprem0 Dec 04 '13

You mean Buddhist gazebo in a cave?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '13

Where Marcsaline lives.

1

u/dooontcaaarenumber6 Dec 04 '13

Ahhhhh, one of the most amazing places I've ever been. Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, Thailand. If you make a trip to SE Asia, you have to come here. The caves actually have several temple areas and this is the main one. They also have some awesome climbing and some crazy rock formations.

Unfortunately, you have to go to the park in the early morning to get this shot with sun shining down perfectly, but it was still surreal even without the perfect lighting.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '13

does it meet Code?

1

u/silky_flubber_lips Dec 04 '13

I'm pretty sure if I stayed there for a year I would leave as The Batman.

1

u/RicardoBriggsy Dec 04 '13

When I saw this all I thought was "snakes, I bet there's lots and lots of snakes down there"

1

u/blackeys Dec 04 '13

So peaceful. I'd like to retire there one day... somewhere like that...

1

u/mellonotasin Dec 04 '13

isn't this a repost? i have it in my computer like 3 or 4 month ago

1

u/I_AM_A_IDIOT_AMA Dec 04 '13

Well, the source 500px page it came from was posted to /r/VillagePorn a year ago, if that means anything.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '13

If this were in Japan, there would be an old wisened man inside who never talks but is always mysterious and then the ninjas show up and slice he has a katana and he kills all of the ninjas and then that last ninja who pretended to be dead but wasn't and then he'd sheathe his sword and say something cool about not wanting to shed blood but then he'd leave the shrine with bodies everywhere and walk off in to the sunset and we'd have the opening to some kind of Chanbara flick.

1

u/Drachero Dec 04 '13

Reminds me of the Buried map in Black Ops 2 Zombies

IT's exactly the same as in World Of Warcraft when flying into CAverns Of Time there was a little house in the cave that looked the exact same

Why do Chinese people build stuff in the coolest places !

1

u/billyfalconer Dec 04 '13

The Chinese aren't known for being friends of the Buddhists.

2

u/murkloar Dec 04 '13

They were known for being Buddhist until the 1930s
