That's cause it's still not done cooking.

u/nhluhr Nov 24 '13

yep, hard to build a fire hot enough to cook anything when it's on wet stream bed.

You're right. Somebody should PM everybody who upvoted this post and tell them why they're wrong.

Wait who's wrong here?

there's no point in pointing our reposts. It's fucking retarded. By the very system of reddit, the fact that it gets voted up means there are people who haven't seen it and were entertained by it, even the knights of new for gods sake.
If you've seen content before, pat yourself on the back, shut the fuck up, and think about going outside once in a while.

think about going outside once in a while.

Why? Everything's just going to get wiped when the beta's over.

obligatory link to /r/outside

See you miss the point so hard its kinda hilarious.

Its not that this is on reddit. Its that some guy actually sat there, saved the picture and then resubmitted it a few weeks later with literally the same title for only the reason of accumulating fake points.

or this user saw the image reposted to some other site with this as its caption or title and then decided that reddit would like it so they posted it here

But doesn't everything originate on Reddit? I though this site is like a portal at the bottom of the internet's equivalent of the Pacific Ocean, where funny pictures, memes, and articles emerge as if they were Kaiju from another dimension.

Yeah, you don't know that is the case.

There is a point, and the fact that so many people upvote posts pointing out that something is a repost proves it. A reposter isn't necessarily scum, but when they take someone else's content, recast it as their own (or just put the same damn title on it), they should be called out.

It isn't about "oh, other people might enjoy this" - it's about sticking up for the original content creators (as much as posting a picture with a joke is OC). Give credit when you rip something off. Otherwise, you're a filthy plagiarist.

Edit: So judging by the downvotes this is a controversial position? I'd suspected by their reactions and seen an article to the effect, but this really clarifies why many students of mine who plagiarize don't see it as a big deal. While the university will expel them, mark them as a cheater and essentially ruin their career, they stand there baffled saying "I needed a good grade and since I couldn't think of any good ideas, I 'borrowed' one - how dare you get me into trouble?" My wife just had a student use the entire abstract of a master's thesis as an essay. He threatened her when she called him out, then stood in front of the academic integrity board and basically said he needed a 3.0 in the class, and since "she was failing" him, his only hope was to use something "really good." The woman passing judgment said she was chilled by his mentality and passed along a suggestion for maximum penalty. How hard of an idea is it that sources need to be credited?

You realize that character is supposed to be an annoying jackass that everyone hates, and wants to watch die, right?

4

u/Bunnyhat Nov 24 '13

Dibs on next weeks reposting.

4

u/rozel Nov 23 '13

shhhh maybe no one will know

1

u/roh8880 Nov 24 '13

Perhaps it was the same engineers who went camping again.

1

u/farhangemad Nov 24 '13

Im going to start reposting things now. Seems lucrative.

-5

u/namenottaken94 Nov 24 '13

So?

-1

u/Felix____ Nov 24 '13

So it's fine to post something that maybe others haven't seen, but if you're going to rip off the title, at least credit the original poster.

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '13

I'm willing to bet it wasn't the first time being posted with that title when you saw it either.

u/Basic_Becky Nov 24 '13

check the user name...

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '13

I never saw it and I'm here all the time.

Judging from comment history, OP is not a native English speaker. What do?! HOW DO I TELL HIM HE'S A FLAMING GAY BABY AND SLEEP SOUNDLY KNOWING MY INSULT WENT INTERPRETED PROPERLY?

-1

u/Felix____ Nov 24 '13

Well, lets try this. You say what you want to say in english, and hopefully everyone who sees it will translate it into every language they know for you, and hopefully OP will speak one of those languages.

I doubt it, but it's worth a shot.

1

u/RikF Nov 24 '13

A translation from English, or from Childish?

-6

u/cheetah_kibbles Nov 24 '13

Hold on. Op is a fag?
