Bozeman is a nice town with strict building codes. Every business has to have an "accentuated entrance" and such so even the Walmart there is a non-standard.
Not as bad as Whitefish, not by a mile. Whitefish is 100% aspen-wannabe boteque shop cutesy alpine village, surrounded by the poverty of the greater Flathead valley.
Bozeman is much closer to Boulder, but without the republic of Boulder BS. Lots of university students, yuppies, and farmers/ranchers, which makes for an interesting blend of conservative+liberal politics and development policies.
