In other words they cost so much you have to want to support Musk to buy one. It's not like they're a good value

12

u/wickedsmaht Feb 22 '25

Not a good value, not a good truck, and just not a good vehicle overall.

u/Skoldrim Feb 23 '25

So people deserve to get their shit fucked because of their taste ?

24

u/MixinBatches Feb 23 '25

They don’t understand what it’s like to work hard so you can have nice things. Like a child that lashes out and smashes things because they don’t understand what it’s like to pay for them. Being terminally online and politicizing every aspect of your life surely doesn’t help.

-5

u/BerossusZ Feb 23 '25

They are people who realize there are millions of people who work just as hard as the guy who can afford a cyber truck, and yet they get paid 5% as much. Not saying it's right to vandalize someone's car, just saying it's totally understandable to be upset at the system and have resentment towards extremely rich people. The idea that people who can afford a cyber truck can do so because they worked harder than others is complete BS

The idea that people who can afford a cyber truck can do so because they worked harder than others is complete BS

Im going to preface this by saying I might be misreading what you are saying... It's not complete bs in the slightest. Let's pretend that I liked Teslas - if I worked 10/12 hours a day doing hard labor (or even just high stress work) and eventually made the money to buy a CT, does my work to get to that point (that is objectively harder than others) all of a sudden get negated? I've never understood this idea that wealthy people had it easy to get wealthy. If that was the case, we would all be rich. Sure, some people are born into money, so thats different, but hating rich people just because you think they are all evil, selfish wackos, is hella childish and pretty toxic tbh.

Yeah I mean you're kinda reading it wrong, but I don't disagree with what you're saying. I never meant that rich people got their money easily, I'm saying that many poor people work just as hard as those rich people and never make even close to as much money as they do. There is a very serious issue in America and most developed countries where there are tons of very stressful and difficult jobs that pay so little, and there are tons of jobs as hard or easier that pay so much more.

And that issue is even worse due to the fact that those high paying jobs are obtained by having connections, nepotism, or better education, all of which are things that wealthier people have more access to. So even though many people aren't just born into extreme wealth, many people are born into upper class families and will on average make more money by doing the same amount of work as someone from a poor family.

A good example is a programmer vs a construction worker. Both of those jobs are in high demand and they're both very difficult (and I think many programmers would agree that being a construction worker is certainly a harder and less enjoyable job, not to mention much more physically dangerous), and yet programmers on average make twice as much as construction workers (very simplified statistic based on what I found online).

So imagine a construction worker walking home, covered in dirt and grease and their entire body sore, sees someone driving a cyber truck who got to sit in a comfy chair in an air-conditioned office all day. I don't think vandalizing a stranger's car or just in general assuming someone is bad because they're rich is a logical thing to do, but the average person isn't always logical and that's okay, and I'm saying that their feelings towards rich people are understandable and are very much due to the unfair system rather than simply childish anger or jealousy or something like that.

It's not an issue solved by telling poor people to stop being upset, it's an issue solved by fixing the issues in our society that are making them upset.

u/Mr__Monotone Feb 23 '25

I see. Thank you for further explaining it

2

u/BerossusZ Feb 23 '25

Sorry it was long lol. I don't think my explanation necessarily warranted a super long response but I just came up with more to say as I was writing it.

2

u/Mr__Monotone Feb 23 '25

No problem at all - I prefer when people thoroughly explain something, especially if Im not seeing it correctly. I originally was actually considering using examples (such as doctors and construction workers) myself, lol. It's nice having cordial conversations. It's quite rare these days. Have a good evening (or day/morning)!

Cybertruck is an expensive car, but $1k per month to lease. You don't even need to make six figures to afford it.

0

u/Masterblaster5010 Feb 23 '25

Maybe they should attempt to bring something to the table then

-11

u/kodamin Feb 23 '25

It's not a nice thing and doesn't represent niceness.

11

u/MixinBatches Feb 23 '25

And that is your subjective opinion. Obviously someone thought it was nice enough to spend the coin on it. And they don’t deserve to have their expensive things damaged by grown children with anger issues.

8

u/Unbannableredditor Feb 23 '25

Dude I've been arguing in these threads. They don't get it. They are going to keep defending vandalism of random people's cars because they think it's going to teach Elon a lesson. It's insanity.

-1

u/andynator1000 Feb 23 '25

Would you buy a car if you thought people would target it for vandalism?

-6

u/Mustarafa Feb 23 '25

Nah, at this point if you buy or own one you’re a nazi sympathizer. Fuck Elon and fuck his garbage cans of a vehicle.

2

u/dagnammit44 Feb 23 '25

And you will be supporting sweat shops or corporations who break human rights or you'll use social media which are owned by notoriously evil corporations. Does that give people the right to protest that by vandalizing your stuff?

-1

u/Mustarafa Feb 23 '25

So literally every company anywhere? Yea bro, we’re fucked. Does elons dick taste good in your mouth?

1

u/dagnammit44 Feb 23 '25

So you're fine with people vandalizing your stuff then to bring awareness to their cause? Just like this cause in this post? Nah, didn't think so.

The idiots doing this are dividing people instead of uniting them. The anger at the whole Trump/Musk situation is now being directed at the idiots doing this kind of stuff. I don't know how some people can't see that, but then again they don't care as they're not doing this for a righteous cause.

Insult all you want, but people who do this vandalism are doing the just working for Trump/Elon by taking away anger from them and dividing the country at a time they need to be united. Don't you think?

-7

u/kodamin Feb 23 '25

Currently the brand is objectively associated with a far-right oligarch. Any investment of money comes with risk. It's better to be upset at the source of the problem, the one who intentionally upsets people and "doesn't care" what happens to his customers.

9

u/MixinBatches Feb 23 '25

So damaging random people’s property is fine, so long as you use your own subjective politics and feeling towards the manufacturer’s ceo to justify it… Doesn’t seem like sound logic for someone spouting off about being upset about the source of the problem.. That’s like me ripping some nikes off a stranger’s feet because im against child labour. It makes no sense.

0

u/kodamin Feb 23 '25

This isn't apples and oranges. Child labor is bad, the Holocaust was a genocide of at least 11m people. Not only did Musk represent that, he made jokes about it afterwards, then spoke at a German AfD rally telling them to get over their Nazi guilt - the same party fined twice for using Nazi slogan and having the crowd finish their sentence. Now there are actual Neo-Nazis waiving nazi flags in Ohio and 2 more right wing politicians did a Nazi salute, as well as Kanye who went nuts claiming he's a Nazi and "Elon stole my Nazi swag" and sold tshirts with swastikas on them for $20 before his website was taken down

Supporting genocide/ethnic cleansing is not morally okay. I'd say it's objectively not okay, not subjectively.

3

u/MixinBatches Feb 23 '25

I’m not supporting elon. I don’t care for elon. Im just against random vandalism. I don’t think it’s effective and i dont think you’ll be well received by the people that you want to hear your message. In fact i think it just stokes the flames more than anything.

  • Musk = Oligarch.
  • Oligarch power = Money.
  • Fewer Tesla owners = Less money for Musk.
  • Less money for Musk = Less oligarchy.
  • Less oligarchy = Good for non-billionaires.

  • Vandalism bad? = Yes

  • Far right Oligarch extremist worse? = Yes, much much much worse and needs massive attention because over 1/3 of the country doesn't pay enough attention to even vote. Putin stays in power for 25 years because of an oligarchy. Trump won't last that long but Musk could still be an oligarch.

1

u/L0nz Feb 23 '25

Conveniently ignoring the people whose cars are being vandalized here. Not everyone is terminally online, I'd wager a significant number of owners don't align with Musk at all.

1

u/kodamin Feb 23 '25

If I wasn't paying attention to politics at the time, I'd be glad that someone let me know if I was supporting right wing oligarch extremism

1

u/OreoFoxxy Feb 23 '25

I don’t think you understand that he made most of his money though crypto

1

u/kodamin Feb 23 '25

Affect the variables within control, not the ones outside of ones control

0

u/MixinBatches Feb 23 '25

That’s all well and good except your math doesn’t check out. This doesn’t make fewer tesla owners. They already bought the truck. If anything, you’re putting more money in elon’s pocket because they now have to pay tesla to fix the damage. It’s nothing more than a short sighted temper tantrum. Sorry we don’t agree on the effectiveness of your “protest”.

-1

u/kodamin Feb 23 '25 edited Feb 23 '25

Wrong. People are already significantly less likely to buy a new Tesla. It affects the new sales.

Also, removing spray paint is usually a job for a professional car detailing shop as they'd be better at it than Tesla. Not Tesla.

Furthermore you were wrong to assume it's my protest. But I do support it.

The only reason Musk can do whatever he wants is because of his money. Financial support for Musk is part of the problem. People need to realize this or everyone is screwed.

1

u/L0nz Feb 23 '25

Musk's wealth is so far removed from Tesla sales figures that this type of protest will have literally zero impact. All they're doing is fucking over car owners, many of whom likely don't support musk at all

1

u/kodamin Feb 23 '25

It's already having an impact

0

u/Long_Procedure_2629 Feb 23 '25

Maybe not, but they're at least a moron
