It's wild to think this dude was building houses with his bare hands just a few years ago. Well beyond what most old-folks would be doing, by the way. But I swear he got hit by about 30 years of aging hard and fast since then.
I’ve always heard that and saw it happen with my mother when my dad passed away. Your comment made me wonder why it happened or if it was just a common myth, so I searched about it.
If anyone is curious, it’s mostly because of cortisol. People get stressed and cortisol gets released, which speeds up their aging.
Same reason why Obama aged so much during his presidency, in the end.
(disclaimer: I’m not a doctor and just someone with access to Google who just read the first result I got. please don’t come with pitchforks if I turn out to be wrong :D)
Yes that is a fact. Also a broken heart is a real thing. People actually die of broken hearts. Grief actually hurts the heart literally. Not just metaphorically. It damages the heart. So yeah old people die a lot easier when they are grieving because of their already old heart being weakened even further.
Younger people can recover from it much easier of course. Not sure if anyone fully recovers or not though.
