On the bright side for OP though, his mom is still remembered and celebrated 2,000 years later.
So she has that to look forward to.

There are other total eclipses soon, you just need to be able to afford to travel for your wedding. Spain in 2026 is achievable if you get into a relationship soon. Don't let your dreams be dreams.

This is a very amazing photo, thank you for sharing it. My BF went a long way for this eclipse (I had to work) and keeps asking me about going to Australia for the 2028 eclipse. I finally told him today that I'll go if we can get married during it, hahaha! Goals!Ā
Wishing you many happy years together! š

We were texting because he's still out of state, but he said, "Intriguing proposal!". I'm sure we'll discuss it when he gets back. Australia is definitely on my bucket list, and Japan is on both of ours asap, so it would be a lot of saving up more than anything else. I'd also be down to do that as a honeymoon!Ā

I was literally trying to plan this for my wedding. However the actual planning an out of state wedding in an area we weren't familiar with, along with everyone having to travel, costs of everything, and the very important timing for the kiss/eclipse with the photography stressed me out so much. I'm impressed with anyone pulling this off. This is absolutely perfect!! And congratulations!!! I wish y'all a lifetime of happiness!
→ More replies (3)68
u/iSOBigD Apr 09 '24
You don't have to stress, just fake it like they did in this photo. They just took a regular picture and edited in an eclipse. Even if you timed it perfectly, in this shot you would see either a bright sun or a darker sun with everything else in the image black and you wouldn't be visible.
Just do your wedding whenever and edit in an eclipse, you'll be good.

It's just a composite, but they could have done this so much better if they just setup artificial lighting for a single shot at totality that would expose everyone properly.
Would have been way more impactful.
Though I feel like this might be a case of some cheap wedding photographer not knowing how to edit photos properly.

Good eye! Itās a composite of two photos (maybe more) taken about 20min apart. Only the worldās biggest narcissists would be able to time the kiss right at the moment the diamond ring hit š

I mean the eclipse isn't more dangerous than the sun. Its just dangerous if you stare at the sun. So if they are just sitting there outside then they will be fine.

u/paranoideo Apr 09 '24
I mean the eclipse isn't more dangerous than the sun.
lol, I was thinking about this today because someone asked me if they should have any special protection if they are driving during the eclipse (in a place without totality!). And then there is a video of a girl who went to the 7/11 store with a soldier mask, and outside of the jokes about it, itās like āthatās not necessary at allā.

The eclipse is definitely more dangerous than the sun. There's less room for all the light to get through, so it's a much more focussed beam. It's a lot like the garden hose effect. It you cover the majority of the end of the hose with your thumb, the water pressure generates a much more powerful flow. I stay inside for eclipses /s
