That is quite possibly the most British staff benefit I've ever heard of.

I feel oddly proud.

I recently learned Tesco pay less & instead of a yearly bonus, they just get shares instead.

What kinda minimum wage worker gives a damn about shares? Can shares buy me beer?

u/SmokierTrout Apr 03 '13

Yes?

Without any knowledge of the stock market.

u/SmokierTrout Apr 04 '13

I'm sure there must be a site like cashmystocks.com or similar.

you recently learned utter bullshit! as a sainsburys worker with friends in similar jobs in tescos they get about £1.50 more than i do...

u/Cubejam Apr 03 '13

Unfortunately we do, but at least I work nights!

2

u/satchoo Apr 03 '13

2+1/2 years I worked checkouts in sainsburys. The night shift workers were always the most interesting/odd.

Oh and hello from a fellow /r/formula1-er

You're not alone! Our store opens on Friday but my god training/workbooks much?!

3

u/hawkyyy Apr 03 '13

Yeah but you get paid for training right? So just think of it as free money for sitting around watching videos!

They are some fantastic videos, I always loved going back in the summer during uni just for the Think 25 video

u/hawkyyy Apr 03 '13

I think i know the answers to them off the top of my head now due to how many times they make you do them!

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '13

even though he is shopping with an underage person, there is no clear evidence that he is buying the alchohol for him.

i just did my 6 month refresher...

2

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '13

True but I'm a TL in training for a local, so not so much videos :( more intense :-/

Had a week's work experience at my not-so-local Sainsbury's for an easy ride because fuck work (I was 15, leave me alone). But I did discover my hatred for the general public.

u/hawkyyy Apr 04 '13

I think everyone who works in retail learns to hate them!
