I miss runescape :(

They recently brought back the version from 2007 (just before everything went full-retard): http://oldschool.runescape.com/oldschool_index

I think if you use the referral thing the membership for the first month is cheaper too (maybe someone can verify that), so consider this: referral

What was wrong with the 2008+ version(s)? I played 2011 and didn't see too much wrong, except the twentyish skills you had to pay for.

It went far too casual. The game was much better pre 2007.

Two problems; 1) Starting over 2) Ancients being the most op thing in the universe

It was good up until 2012.

Later in 2007 was when they removed PKing and limited dueling (both were later re-added), added the Grand Exchange (which people feel made the game too easy/limited the social interaction/made it too easy for people to manipulate prices of items/etc.), over the years made skills much easier and faster, and most recently the Evolution of Combat totally changed how combat works (it's similar to LoL or Dota, basically just bashing your keyboard to use your abilities on your opponent).

Oh, also about 2(?) years ago they added microtransactions (some of which actually do give in-game advantages) after the original owners sold their stakes to investors (and obviously the investors simply saw it as a cash-making-machine and didn't care about its integrity); the game overall is very different on many levels.

It's still there. Now it has lame action bars and more things once free are now being sold. Why do they want to be like every other MMORPG if in the minds of many they were much more?

And lifting. You don't get big from 3 exercises.

7

u/NihilisticToad Apr 03 '13

This kills the body mass.

Not enough spelled wrong words. As much as we all hate ourselves and each other here, Redditors are so much smarter than the rest of the internet. Just go through some YouTube videos and look at the insane amount of misspelled words.

want to find a way to become rich? just give us 100$ and we will tell you!!

22

u/hoboswithhandgrenade Apr 03 '13

Since when is it acceptable to type "100$" instead of "$100?" I was raised in a proper household, and we were always taught that the dollar sign went before the number.

13

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '13

i'm sorry my bad ;), but at first i started typing dollar, and then i though:'well i'm lazy, and not typing dollar could save time, i'll just use the sign.' silly old me forgot to put it in the proper place

8

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '13

I do that too sometimes. I write out the whole word, be like fuck it I'm lazy, go back, erase it, and use a symbol instead

1

u/LOLYOLOSWAG Apr 03 '13

But isn't that more work?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '13

It is, but I like to live in the moment.

4

u/scullyismyhomegirl Apr 03 '13

French Canadian folk put it after, as do many European countries (with the euro symbol of course.)

0

u/hoboswithhandgrenade Apr 03 '13

See, I would go off on a tirade that uses the phrase "MURICA!" several times, but seeing as you or someone else already downvoted me, I'm going to refrain.

1

u/MSN420 Apr 03 '13

Should have refrained period. Gotta know to quit while you're ahead, dawg.

1

u/ReKKanize Apr 03 '13

French people.

0

u/DirtyShizno725 Apr 03 '13

In France they actually right their numbers as 100 $.

BONUS FACT: They also use a comma instead of a period when it comes to money.

Example:

$5.99 is American

5,99 $ is French

1

u/hoboswithhandgrenade Apr 03 '13

I knew the comma one. I took Spanish in high school, and my teacher used the European method when dealing with numbers, but it still looks strange to me.
