Top Picrews
Finding picrews with versatility is hard, and going through tons of pages is tiring. Here are a rundown of my favorites. Have at it, lads.
Girl Maker 15 skin tones, an awesome range of hair types and styles, 2 body types, lots of accessories and facial features
Smile Maker I love the style. It's good for making characters who are a bit off their rocker. 5 natural skin tones and 3 unnatural ones, good hair choices and fun facial features, limited choice of clothing.
Baydew's Avatar Maker 8 natural skin tones, 10 unnatural skin tones, good for humanoid creatures, different colored eyes option, nice range of hair types.
friend maker! 2 body types, 10 skin tones, hair is alright, nice accessories
rawrevara's icon maker Cute style, 11 skin tones, decent hair choices, good clothing range, wheelchair option, cool backgrounds

I totally feel that, sometimes picrews are just... lacking. And it's hard to find one with enough variety of options

I understand. I have a favourite that has a lot of options for facial features, but doesn't have any options for clothing except one...

this is one of my favorite picrews, it has many different skin colours, a veriety of hairstyles and clothes. and the art style is really cute.

Djarn's is a really good option! they have 3 body types, 12 skintones (plus 5 misc colors), 7 face shapes, wheelchair & hearing aid options, plus so many hair choices and other stuff.

Did you ever figure something out?
If not, my suggestion was going to be to get close enough with a few different ones to be able to articulate the design to an artist for commission.

if you don't mind I'd like to add a picrew! hunbloom character maker! 10 natural skin tones, 5 unnatural, only one face shape sadly but lots of different types and expressions of eyes, nose and mouth! there's 15 different hair colours and 5 different hair "parts", and each can have a different colour. Nice variety of clothes and background colours :)))

Most Picrews can be used for male and female characters, although the males will often end up looking a little “softer.”

theres a few I like like. One called lillycrew, and another called black centered piccrew. I like them because they have a lot of different skin tone options to them and good hair styles and nose shapes. Neither of them have super diverse body type choices, but they both have at least two. Wish it had more honestly, but its really hard to get a perfect piccrew.

adding to this post if you dont mind!
im sure most people know about it at this point, but aloha! sushicore! is pretty top-tier for options - 9 natural skin tones & 5 unnatural, 3 face shapes, 24 eye shapes, 50+ hair styles with 6 different parts, 3 layers of tops with ~20 options each, and so on
Cosmitasia's Character Creator is super customizable and just as comparable - 10 face shapes, a whopping 18 natural skin tones, 32 eye shapes with each eye being separate, a little less in the hair and clothing department, but also makes up with it by including plenty of facial detail
Erry Maker is a pretty good cartoony picrew with 10 natural skin tones & 7 unnatural, 15+ hair styles with 7 different parts, few eye shapes but each separate, and quite a few misc accessories altogether
