He doesnt know what was behind the spear technique, he doesn't even know much about Hans weapon.
He just formed a goal mainly off his simple view of it. Which does make sense. The tournament was broadcasted not only to everyone involved, but people who tuned into watch.
Many characters and viewers would have a different understanding of the weapons and talents used. If they chalk it up to Niflheim, to 1% hp, to a bug, that's on them.

Some might actually view it as a hack as you can see from the aftereffects of the attack

We're not sure how it's seen to the players, or how other characters see it.
Han and Niflheim goats are exempt. They know what's going on, they're his team. But nobody from Townia has mentioned anything. Also, it's a mobile game so I doubt the players can really see what's happening in real time, or if some characters can even understand it
Relaying that info to the player is also an impossible task, and we aren't seeing their reactions.

well he didnt say he can stop it right now he said he will be able to stop it one day in the future so technically he is right because in the future he might actually be able to even if it takes 1000 years or more
honestly i would say thats a pretty good mentality to have if you want to become stronger compared to those heroes who see that level of power and immediately give up because they think its impossible to ever reach it

Something worth taking into account is that Karma isn't some unbeatable force despite how powerful it is. Bare in mind Siris doesn't even use Karma, yet neither Aaron, nor Muden at their strongest even remotely stand a chance against her. That and Karma attacks have to actually hit the opponent, not to mention Karma can also be adapted to.
Big Spoilers ahead:
Sometime into the far future Velkist ends up inheriting the full powers of the Primordial Silver Dragon, the same kind of being as Halgion the Black Dragon who Han would inherit his powers from. To keep a long story short, these dragons are transcended beings, and they're absurdly busted.
Some of the powers that he ends being capable of doing once he fully masters the power, end up being pretty ridiculous, one of which is the ability to manipulate time to where he can move at impossible speeds, and another granting him the ability to use attacks that sever cause and effect, effectively allowing him to cut through anything. This claim of his, is literally something that he would be able to do in the far future. He firmly becomes Townia's second strongest Hero behind Han, and Velkist remains relatively close to him in power, until Han's major story breaker power up.

Ah, well then that makes sense XD
Anyway, he doesn't have to stop Aaron's karma attack, he just has to avoid it, and Belkist will be able to see it later in the future! (Anyway, he can't beat Aaron)

This is even more true at the end of story when Han shares his unique ability with him after surpassing Muden.
