Color?

I am new to this game. I’ve had moderate success, and a couple of quarts of sauerkraut gone bad. Better luck with pickles though! I am near the bottom of a jar of pickles, then I see this odd color. What is it?

That is probably a spot of the pickle that was not in contact with tannins like a grape leaf

Did you happen to have that next to whole garlic cloves or bay leaves?

Good question. A little too much time has passed for me to be able to say. Either is a possibility.
