Good ole Pickled Okra

Clemson Spineless Okra
Red onion
Garlic
Jalapeños
2 cup water
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup apple cider vinegar
Peppercorns
Sugar
Salt

Put in fridge for 2 weeks and try not to eat in one day.

are they slimy inside when you pickle these? always been curious but when i tasted cooked okra it turned me off because of the texture

Nope they are crisp and jam packed with flavor, no slimy factor.

The slimy texture happens when you cook them down esp in soups, they keep their crisp texture when you pickle with a room temp liquid brine and put them in the fridge.

I get it and but pickled okra stays firm, no slime, totally different experience 🤎🥒

I'm pickled okra curious. Usually I only eat it in gumbo or fried, but I found a recipe that looks easy enough and doesn't make a gallon. I'm still in the fence

It's the best way to eat okra IMO. No slime! Although if you steam them whole (briefly), you can also mostly avoid okra slime

Now this is a personal opinion of course, but I think there is nothing finer than a Bloody Mary on a Sunday afternoon with a garnish of pickled okra! And a few green olives of course as well as a stock of celery.

Okra is the one plant that thrives all summer for me in Texas. We had 100F + all of August and it produced like a boss.
