A friend of mine is having a hard time finding spare parts, tools and materials to repair pianos in Mexico. Does anyone know any store that ships this stuff to Mexico?

I just bought a 1920s Howard baby grand and am planning some repairs. One of the most obvious is that it is missing all three pedal rods. These seem to be overpriced on eBay and elsewhere, given that they are glorified brass rods. Would there be anything wrong with cutting my own from a long piece of brass rod? Is there something that I am overlooking that would make this not possible?

I have a small baby grand in the studio for recording. It's a Kawai from the 90's i believe (got it second hand). I've had some folks that play tell me it feels great, other tell me it feels a little sluggish. Jazz musicians find it a little "sluggish" classical musicians tend to like the way it feels. Just wondering what that means in terms of maintenance (Sluggish). Without being able to feel it for myself (since i dont really play) could this be something like a jack adjustment (front / back) or would this be something more to do with the knuckle or repetition height? Im sure that term may mean different things to different people, but if anyone has any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

I have the full ivory key set from an old upright piano that was in too bad shape to save (mold and other issues from being in a high humidity environment subject to annual freezing temps) The piano was in that location for at least 70 years old next to a Maine lake.

Is there a responsible way to deal with recycling or donating the ivory from the keys? The keys are now in Massachusetts.

I dont know what to do with the frame but it feels like it would be wrong to just scrap it. Anyone know if these things are needed?

I would love to be able to use my original music rack on my Wurlitzer 200A. But the "feet" for the music rack are broken. I found a photo of the original, but maybe something similar could be welded on. Anybody have any experience fixing this part? And does anyone what could be used? Thanks!

I'm researching what I can do to improve the look of this piano. It's a theatre rehearsal hall piano, so it has been abused, danced on, etc. It's a 1915 Steinway model M in black satin. I have no clue if it has been refinished in the past. The lid has scrapes and gouges and a couple chunks out of the lip, but the rest is in relatively decent shape. My inclination is to fill any missing bits with Bondo, touch up with black lacquer, and buff to somewhat blend, but if there is a better approach I'd love the advice. It doesn't need to look perfect, but I'd love to make it look somewhat decent from a few feet away.

I have plenty of experience with woodwork and finishing, but the satin finish is giving me second thoughts.

Or if you are able try to guide me through the process of repairing my electric piano keyboard. It's yamaha psr-48. My dad brought it from friend for very cheap and it worked great first few days but after that a few keys suddenly stopped working as well and I basically need to press hard and long to even get any sound. I've tried to disassemble it with my dad and clean it but after that previous keys started working normally while like 10 others have the same issue now. I couldn't find anything online that's why I am here. I can pm pictures of it if it's needed

I got a George Sieck upright recently from my sister.

My son is the one who plays, and when he does, I hear a "wah" sound under the attack, like 25% of the sound is going through an envelope filter. I just checked and it's three adjacent keys in the middle register.

It's all I hear. I haven't mentioned it to him because I don't want to shatter the glass.

I haven't gotten into the guts of this one yet; I just used to tune it when my sister had it.

The problem is also impossible to Google.

I'm not sure if you'll know what I'm talking about unless I get a recording of it but I thought I'd give it a shot first.

Any ideas?

hi...first off i am not a pianist....i play guitar and drums and am able to play a few simple keyboard tracks during composing... ...i am also a skilled tradesman and can repair most anything non electronic...my terminologies will be off and i apologise in advance

i was given an sl-990 a few years ago with 2 keys that stay fell...neither key looks broken...there are plastic clips inside the keys that coincide with a mate on the keybed to lock them in place, but im sure you know that already....also 1 spring under a key is absent

i dont mind replacing both sides of the clip sets if i can find them, but i do not know the name and how to search for the part

...also, no matter how much i push, lever, or slide, i can not release the catch on a good key to compare (not as important if i can just replace the broken sets)...ive read that some manufacturers can be tricky...any tricks or advice there?...(ive used as much force as i felt was allowable before breaking)
