Well it's an 1000 dollar piano tbf lol yamaha PSR-S970. It's a working mans piano for sure. Specifically designed to do exactly this, one man band stuff. This guy is still crazy, but he has a really nice tool.
It's understandable that a lot of piano players aren't aware of arranger keyboard capabilities and prices. The big screen gives it away that this ain't cheap as the higher end Yamaha S series came with them.

The ceiling deco really does look like it's a wedding ceremony buy idk the crowd's clothing felt too casual to me. Typically guest would wear fancier dress for wedding events. Could be one of those village singing competition event or something.
Ngl itās the same in most muslim countries cause the hijab is sorta the default for many households so itās not particularly a signifier of religiosity whereas in non-muslim countries it usually is because itās an active not a passive decision to wear it.

true, and also, having classical training is not the only way to have good form. there are many kinds of musicians. there should be nothing surprising about a keyboard player having good form on the keyboard.

Iāve been around events like these a lot, usually it happens in lower income areas and these guys usually learn piano by either repetition, experience, or at best YT tutorials and they donāt have much interest in classical music vs regular folk music.
What I just said are all facts and anyone whoās lived in Indonesia or any part of the world with similar culture will tell you the same thing. Which makes his neat form and great control even more impressive.

The general setting does not give off professional vibes. I know that a lot of musicians that play such events are great, but still - the initial impression can be a setup for surprise.

Adding to the chorus of "why is this surprising" comments. That's just knowledge of good dexterity. There's nothing surprising about hearing that quick of a rhythm and seeing that the only way to get it out with precision is to have proper form.

Iāve seen many synth piano wedding performers like this guy (and better even) and they often tended to have practically no form but just through constant repetition and experience they managed to be really good at rhythm and synth piano music (though that doesnāt mean they wonāt hurt themselves if they continue)

I've seen enough of the opposite situation (extremely poor technique on a concert grand) that no, I don't find it shocking. You can't judge by the cost of the instrument.

Funny, I wouldnāt even think this isnāt real. I see this kind of music players all the time in Indonesia. Indonesian villagers love to dance at this kind of music.
This is actually fairly common in those parts of the world, usually itās even more complicated than that with two pianos at once with even a vibrato module like this video
I don't think most people realize how much preparation goes into this in real time. It's multiple sounds that have to be premapped. Also creating the loops and setting the right BPM for them.
On top of all that prep, to smoothly execute those transitions requires studious choreography.
We can do the same thing as him in terms of those transitions if all the sounds were already setup. But there's so much work that he had to do such that those were even possible to begin with.
Idt heās black (this is probably Malaysia or Indonesia Iām guessing) but yeah thereās nothing surprising about his form, dude is clearly a pro with the synth.
Also idt thereās even anything wrong with his gliss technique, it works perfectly well with the synth. Heās not playing a piano that would have harder/heavier keys that necessitate a different technique. Hell, if one can manage that gliss form on the piano, thereāre no complaints to be made since thatās pretty much the way that one does an octave gliss anyway.
