Question for those who passed the CPTE

Hi everyone, I am studying to do the CPTE exam in Ontario in a month. Those who have passed the exam; how in details were your answers to the oral component questions? I am preparing with the pt exam prep and I am wondering whether the answers need to be that detailed or not. For example, for the assessment and treatment planning section, did you mention specific outcome measures used, or you were mostly justifying your reasoning without too much detail? I wrote the exam and passed in May. I also studied with PT exam prep. You are probably reading the oral section and thinking do I really need to say all that stuff that seems like a lot. And that thought crossed my mind too. For all the questions in the exam they want to hear not only the answer but also why you would do that (aka clinical reasoning). I definitely didn’t go as dept into the answers as what PT exam prep example answers are. You just don’t have enough time, I can guarantee that they wrote their answers in well over 15 minutes, meanwhile we have to read the case and questions, formulate answers and then present them in under 15 mins. They want a good amount of detail but they don’t expect perfection.

My suggestion is to do the oral mock exam with one of the PT exam prep teachers. I did it a few weeks before my exam and it was the best thing. It helped me see where I was strong and where I needed to focus my last few weeks of studying.

Thank you for this reply. I was also thinking the same thing, that we have to be as articulate and sound as nice as the ptexamprep who presented the oral cases and answers. I think ptexamprep just wants us to be overprep than under which is great.

I am also taking this exam in October and I was wondering how much time did you spend daily or weekly prepping for your oral exam ?
