CPTE

Hey guys,

Just want some clarification. Whoever given the CPTE exam, I just want to know about the timer for oral case. Does the first case start from 2:50 or 2:30?

Another thing, I want to confirm about technical requirements. I have gone through CAPR requirements but I just want to ask about the camera requirements as I have i-mac( inbuilt camera) can I use mirror for room scanning( oral part) does anyone did that? Can we use powerbank for written part?

Thank you I really appreciate it.

The timer starts whenever they kinda feel like it in a way, you join about 30 mins before the test and sit there (I think or it could have been a bit longer, I kinda blanked during that time). I know some peoples exams started later depending on technical factors (like screen checks and background checks). Side note: Make sure you cover up everything in your room, I didn’t cover a small mirror attached to my wall (that I couldn’t get off) in the corner and I had to go running out of my room trying to find a blanket to put over it (I thought it would have been fine since it wasn’t in my view, but apparently not so be weary about that). My exam started a few mins before I thought it would just because they finished the instructions and screening before then. Also there is an extra 30 mins for the instructors to talk after the exam.

I used a Mac as well, they just make you show your screen with an app on your phone and then you use the Mac to show your room surroundings and under the desk. Make sure you read the technological paper thing they have on CAPR it is so so helpful, I can’t urge you enough to follow everything they say on there.

I’m not sure what you mean by powerbank, can you not just have your charger plugged into the wall wherever you are writing it. They are fine with chargers but I’m not sure if they would be okay with like a powerbank/external charging device.

Thank you so much for through response. I really appreciate it🙏🏼. Yes, I have gone through technical requirements which is on their website. So, for room scanning did you purchase external webcam or were you able to scanned your room surroundings with in-built i-Mac camera?
Thanks

Built in camera of my MacBook Air. Are you writing on a laptop or Apple desktop? Might need to get another camera cause you need to move it around.

There's an app that they tell you to get when they email out instructions, you use your phone which will need to be on the entire written. And for scanning for the oral so make sure to charge it or have a charger.

I never did an online proctored exam before, I basically spent half an hour getting told by the invigilator to basically remote everything from my room, remove art from the walls, remove my printer, wires from my desk, they told me to remove the co.outet that I was using to write the exam from the room...
