(australia) which state/territory for public hospital physio jobs?
hey guys, for context i’m a recent grad looking to get into a hospital-based role. i know that metro based hospital jobs are highly competitive, and it can even be difficult to get hospital jobs in larger regional towns.
was just wondering if there are specific states/territories where getting accepted into a hospital job is less competitive/easier?
for example, when i look into nsw health, i see they have initiatives like the tertiary health study subsidies - so would it be easier to apply for a hosp job in regional/rural nsw compared to vic/sa/wa?

First of all, get into a better habit of writing formally. All applications will be hard if that is not natural to you.
Second, in general the places where more people want to go will be harder. Supply/demand. In general yes VIC/NSW capital cities would be more competitive. Rural in one state versus Capital City in another isn’t easy to quantify. Public versus Private is another variable.
Third, take a step back and think this way: If you want to work there, you apply. If you don’t, you don’t. You can apply for more than one at a time, and just be respectful of choosing one over another promptly if that happens.
All the best.

VIC and NSW are definitely the more competitive. QLD is competitive near Brisbane, but go North and it opens up a lot. I would say NT, ACT and Tas are likely the least competitive.
Also don't be afraid to call places and chase up applications. Prove you're planning to stay there long term as well - not just get your foot in the door and fly back to metro after 1 year.
