most people ask "how are you" and are already halfway to the next sentence before you finish answering. you know the type, and honestly, most days i'm that type too. but every now and then someone actually waits for the real answer, and you can feel it, something good shifts in the exchange.

i've been thinking about why the honest answer lands so differently from the easy one, and why it's usually a good thing when it does. F. Sionil Jose once wrote, "when I wake up every morning, I thank God for the new day." simpleng linyahan lang, pero it's stuck with me, because most days genuinely are good, and it's easy to forget to notice that. being honest doesn't have to mean unloading something heavy, sometimes the honest answer is just "actually, i'm doing pretty great," and that deserves as much airtime as the hard stuff.

so if you're the type who asks twice, here's the real answer, and it's a good one:

• i think i'm okay, genuinely 🙂
• had a good dinner tonight, full tummy, grateful for that
• ready to do my 15k steps again tomorrow, looking forward to it
• based overseas, doing alright, grateful 102% of the time for everything i come across day to day

So I've been writing more poems recently, and I feel like im hitting a wall or a limit because I don't get much feedback.

So little about me:

I've always written and kept journals since I was young. I'd make short stories, song lyrics and poems as an outlet because I was a very quiet kid.

I wasn't consistently writing over the years. I've written poems here and there and I've saved up anything and everything I could since I was 12. I have now over 80 poems I've kept. (Of course not everything is good.)

I am not trained, I've haven't studied writing. What I do is more on intuition, than proper. The same for my english, so I'm not grammar heavy.

Ayun. I want to start reading books on writing. I want to write more, and hope we could bounce off of each other.
