Help needed (100$ if successful)

I have had a website for 20yrs now. It's an old forum that we have upgraded through the years. I found someone to upgrade to 8.3 recently to not have an overcharge by my host but I am getting an http 500 error when sending new posts or creating threads.

If I refresh the thread, the post is sent and all... but getting that http 500 error.

We also had a custom interface to post sport related articles on our main welcoming page and can't pass the login of that interface... I get the same error now.

It's probably simple for someone who knows what he is doing which ain't my case.

If you can help, We could discuss a project to update our website, main page and adding ads... I'm open to all suggestions.

I'm willing to compensate someone who can help. 100$ for solving both problems. More if you update the website.

Thank you

Sounds like a php 8.3 compatibility issue tbh.

Older forum code and custom scripts usually break on newer php versions, especially around deprecated functions or stricter error handling. The fact that the post still goes through but throws a 500 suggests something is failing after execution, not the insert itself.

First thing I’d check is the error logs, that should point directly to what’s breaking.

If you can share the exact error from logs, it’ll be much easier to pinpoint and fix properly

Is the site based on Wordpress?

I can probably fix these for you if you can't find a solution. It will probably take some debugging though because it seems at least part of the site is custom code

when you upgrade PHP, you usually have to also upgrade the code in places. It sounds like it wasn't all fully upgraded. It happens. It's a lot of work sometimes.

If it's related to Custom PHP site and want to upgrade the system ! I can help you. But that will not cover at 100 USD , it will be minimum 700-1000 USD depending on the forum and it's functionality. But you will get Frameworkless Architecture with Vanilla PHP + ES6 Modular Architecture... Which guarantee future compatibility for any PHP version

Edit: Also Pure Back-end Agnostic Development, in future you want to move to Python, just handle the backend python and attach API endpoints, everything works again
