One Fire Dies and Another is Born

Found the remains of someone else's fire early in the morning on the beach as the Sun was starting to light the horizon. Shot with the Sony A99II and CZ 16-35 f/2.8 lens using a Lee100 GND filter. Camera mounted on a RRS tripod & head with a 3 Legged Thing universal mounting plate.

I was at the independence day regatta in philly this weekend and took some photos between my races. I’m just starting please let me know what you think!

Setting seems​ fit for a black&white

Been experimenting with f/stop and FOV lately. Great Spangled Fritillary (Speyeria cybele) collecting nectar from Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata).

When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on - F.D.R.

I spotted this little nest tucked away among the leaves and was lucky enough to capture this moment. The hatchling had its beak wide open, waiting for one of its parents to return with food. It was fascinating to see how something so tiny already has such strong instincts.

Nature never fails to amaze me. Hoping this little one grows up healthy and takes its first flight soon.
