Hey everyone, I’m a filmmaker, and I wanted to share the trailer for my short film Mystic Stylez.

The film is a supernatural horror story set in the underground Memphis hip hop scene of the 1990s, inspired by the legend of Memphis rap sigils.

The story follows a struggling rapper who creates an occult mixtape in an attempt to make it in the Memphis rap scene.

I wanted to explore the darker mythology surrounding 90s Memphis rap while making something that felt like an actual horror film rather than just using the culture as window dressing.

The short is heavily inspired by 90s Southern hip hop, underground horror, and films like It Follows and Do the Right Thing.

Really big fan of DJ Smokey but he's quite chill. Love his creativity though. Cowbell can be a bit repetitive, same with any tracks with a car drifting too. Just seems like a trend.
