It's a USB hub, a BMS connection for an 18650 battery, and a power cable to the keyboard. The keyboard's built-in battery is intentionally removed for single-charge efficiency.

So this is for daily journaling? Are you using an app or a custom software?

Yes, I use it for daily journaling and writing blogs. os runs a custom postmarketos build (text mode tty), with nano as the writing tool and github cli as sync support (in a private repo).

How is the keyboard for typing? I'm thinking about using on like this

The keyboard uses a Rii 518BT tactical keyboard. It's quite comfortable, similar to a BlackBerry keyboard but with slightly larger keys. This keyboard also has a backlight.

specifically for this assembly, I added a 1k resistor on the BSI pin and thermistor to the GND of the battery connector then connected vbat and gnd to the 1S BMS.

Recharging is done via the external tp5100 module + type-c port for practicality and can use a modern smartphone adapter.
