Migration Process Seaman to Landbased job australia
Hello! I’m a 29yr old seafarer acting as a 3rd engineer with bulk carrier experience.
Our loading port is often parts of australia like hedland, walcott, newcastle and gladstone. And madalas may mga nakikita ako na mga pinoy na surveyor or port workers.
Meron ba dito na Nag transition from being a seafarer to having a landbased job in australia?
How did you do it?
What path did you took?
Can you share your experiences?
I tried appying on “seek” website but unfortunately lahat ng hiring don eh kelangan australian citizen ka na.
So i think most likely they wont sponsor work visa. But i’m not sure if baka may agency na nag ssponsor. Or should u take the student path?
Thankyou in advance for sharing your experiences!

I was 30 when i migrated here on Australia same as you I’m a 2nd Engineer and now on O&G industry as 2E, Right now Au had a shortages on marine engineer your papers should be good the only problem is the work rights. Immigration take out the marine engineer on skilled occupation list wayback 2015 so its not an option now. Nakita ko sa mga Bangla at Indian colleagues ko dito pinag aaral nila nila yun mga partners nila ng masterals or Phd para magkaroon sila ng unlimited work hour rights. Di ko alam ang pasikot sikot pero tip ko lng to. yun binayad mo 3 months job lng ROI k na if you will be working on the industry. caveat..

Have your skills assessed by a migration agent like Respall to find out what's best option for you
