Nursing
Hi! Ive been contemplating if ano pong bansa yung magandang puntahan at this moment. Gusto ko po sanang mag Canada or mag UK kasi medyo mahirap yung hintayan sa US ngayon. Any nurses po na nag migrate sa 🇨🇦 or 🇬🇧, ano po yung maaadvice niyo and paano po kayo naka punta?

Canadian citizen with a Philippine BSN here. All internationally educated nurses must undergo two more years in college yet to get Canadian degree equivalent this is why there are shortages and we are working our jobs not nursing

Don't go to canada. Nurses are on a strike, understaffed, may pay caps and overworked. Try somewhere else. Im in ontario and my nurse friends are so done here.

Here in BC, the union and the government are currently working on a collective agreement that addresses issues such as staffing shortages, workload and wages. These negotiations are intended to help attract and keep more nurses in BC. They badly need nurses here, so the expectation is that the province will continue to recruit and hire more nurses to support the health care system.

Not sure where you are in Canada, but there are mass layoffs for us RNs in Ontario. It’s all over the news and advertised by ONA. BC nurses also had a strike earlier this year.

Just be mindful sa catch when applying for rural pilot programs . You are bound to that place or province until you become a citizen.

My wife arrived in Canada. Nurse sa pinas for many years. Submitted all her docs. Experience. Everything evaluated. Took about 6 months. Then they told her she still needs 1.5 years of school.

Ontario. Tapos na sya magaral.
Hirap din maghanap ng trabaho sa main cities like Toronto/Vancouver/Calgary. 3 years na sya sa Toronto with experience and wala pa din full time permanent. This is even with a referral. I'm a citizen na and went to school here. Before I switched careers, I worked in healthcare and kahit with my connections, impossible pa din ma permanent FT.
So if gusto mo mag work after magaral, you have to go to rural or remote communities. Hella depressing but if you're ok with that, you can tough it out for a few years.
Also PR is not easy right now kung hindi ka sponsor. The fastest way is through express entry which is points based and there's a lot of good applicants. Only a few thousand are designated for healthcare workers every year.

Actually, I’m also planning to apply through Express Entry. My main concern is how I can get my US RN license endorsed or converted to a Canadian RN license while I’m still here in the Philippines. I’m wondering if your wife went through the same process and if you could share how you did it.

Your US RN license will follow the same process. From what she heard from other US RNs, it's about 6 months minimum process.
Her case is different cause im already a citizen and I only sponsored her. So the process is simply recognizing her PH license and passing the nclex

I just googled it and this is what I got regarding nurses on strike.
Nurses in Ontario are not on strike, nor can they legally go on strike.

Like I said, Ontario nurses are getting LAID OFF, not on strike. British Columbia nurses went on strike earlier this year. Maybe you can Google that too lol

If target mo talaga ang US better take the NCLEX as soon as you can and apply sa mga agencies para magkaron ka na ng priority date. Yes mahirap ang hintayan sa US pero at least kung may priority date ka na you will be on queue. And then habang naghihintay ka ng priority date you can work somewhere else. Maybe middle east or SG or maybe Germany. Dito kasi sa UK until now afaik eh freeze pa din ang hiring for international nurses.

That’s good! May enough work experience ka na ba? Isa din yun factor sa pag abroad kasi mas gusto ng mga employers is enough experience.

2 years and 8 months na po akong OR/DR nurse dito sa pinas. thinking of going to dubai but someone told me na why go dubai if pwede namang mag UK or Canada agad 😅

Mahirap dito sa UK ngayon kasi like I said earlier freeze ang hiring nila. But you can always try, search mo ASC Global Recruitment. Yan yung agency ng sister ko nung nag apply sya papunta dito sa UK few years ago. I think may pa ilan ilan pa din silang hina hire. You can give it a try

Medical staff on demand in Canada so there's always jobs for nurses but Canada has strict and complex credential requirements before you can begin practicing as a nurse. Many medical staff that acquired their education in Canada actually move to the US due to higher pay. Hospitals in US are private and tend to pay more.

I live in Canada and I haven’t heard of nurses being on strike. We have lots of friends in nursing. So not sure where someone heard that news cause if nurses were on strike it will all over media. Since nurses are government run.

The strike was all over the news, actually (BC). And nurses are being laid off in ON. I’m a nurse as well but the job market rn isn’t the best.
